Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) and Chairman of Emirates Group, Honorary Patron of Dubai Quality Group, and President of the Emirates Women Award (EWA), the Emirates Women Award honoured Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) as the Platinum Sponsor of the award, during a ceremony organised by Dubai Quality Group and held at the Four Seasons hotel in Dubai. Representatives from both the public and private sectors, the media, women in leadership roles across the the UAE, business women, and members of DEWA’s Women’s Committee were also present. Fatima Deemas, Senior Manager of Internal Communications at DEWA and Vice Chairperson of the DEWA Women’s Committee, received the trophy on behalf of Khawla Al Mehairi, Vice President of Marketing & Corporate Communications at DEWA and Chairperson of the DEWA Women’s Committee.

This supports DEWA’s ongoing efforts to support national initiatives that aim to empower women and increase their social participation, while enhancing their contribution to sustainable development in the UAE. The Emirates Women Award supports DEWA’s efforts to promote more participation by women in development and innovation, to highlight their contribution to success, community development, and prosperity. Through our participation, we support activities that create an interactive platform for DEWA employees to exchange skills and experiences, while developing their personal and professional abilities,” said Al Mehairi.
Deemas noted that DEWA actively participates in supporting Dubai’s social development by supporting and launching innovative activities and initiatives to improve the role played by women in society. This reflects the UAE as a role model for empowering women.
The Emirates Women Award was launched in 2003, and celebrates women who have excelled in their respective fields. The award aims to inspire and encourage a future generation of female leaders, capable of achieving their potential and growing their status within society. The criteria for the award includes innovation, social contribution, professional achievements, strategic and financial planning, and leadership.
