Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) received over 40 job applications during its participation in the 1st Army-Recruits Career Fair, which was organised by the UAE Armed Forces, represented by the National and Reserve Service Authority. DEWA’s stand attracted a large number of soldiers and reserves who expressed their interest in DEWA’s scholarship programme. The programme enables Emirati students to complete their studies at a number of prestigious universities in the UAE and abroad. At the fair, DEWA received over 80 scholarship applications, which are being reviewed by specialised departments.
Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA, noted that HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA instructed that DEWA participate in the 1st Army-Recruits Career Fair, emphasising the importance of empowering and attracting talented Emiratis, especially those enrolled in the National Service. He directed to provide them with all the available opportunities for employment and scholarships to prepare them to become leaders in the energy and water sectors. This supports DEWA’s commitment to achieving overall excellence.
Dr. Al Akraf noted that DEWA’s Emiratisation strategy includes ambitious programmes to train and prepare Emiratis in engineering and technical areas. DEWA provides various scholarships to Emirati students who wish to further their studies in the energy sector at home and abroad. DEWA has achieved excellent results in Emiratisation, with UAE Nationals comprising 86.4% of senior management and 47.6% in middle management, employing 2,476 Emiratis.
DEWA’s Scholarships include a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, in collaboration with the Higher Colleges of Technology in Dubai (Dubai Men’s College), Bachelor’s degrees in either electrical or mechanical engineering in collaboration with different government and private universities, a Bachelor’s degree in either electrical or mechanical engineering in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates University, and a Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering for 60 students in private universities, 20 scholarships in renewable energy at Sharjah University, and 10 scholarships in renewable energy in universities abroad.
