Thanks to the wise vision of the UAE Government, led by HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Emirati women have made unpreceded achievements in the highest positions. This is also due to their hard work and capabilities across all areas. Emirati women have become key partners in the progress and development of the UAE. The UAE Government provides women with as many opportunities as possible for education and work, while at the same time providing a supportive environment to facilitate their empowerment, and enhance their creativity and innovation.

Declaring 2016 as the year of ‘Women and Innovation,’  by HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood (Mother of the Nation), is a turning point in Emirati women development. It supports the women empowerment strategy launched by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. I congratulate every Emirati mother, sister, and daughter on the Emirati Women’s Day, launched by HH Sheikh Fatima bint Mubarak. We celebrate Emirati Women’s Day on 28 August each year to recognise their achievements and highlight their success across all areas.
