"Declaring 2017 as the Year of Giving by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, confirms that the approach of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, is still supported by the UAE's wise leadership. The late Sheikh Zayed has established the values of philanthropy and giving as main principles in the UAE whose good deeds extend all over the world.
The wise leadership follows the same path of making good deeds and serving humanity. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has directed to start implementing the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan by developing a comprehensive framework to unify efforts that support the Year of Giving. This is done through programmes and initiatives in the private sector, which is a key partner in the development process. This will promote Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) among all organisations.
DEWA takes inspiration from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, while continuously enhancing our initiatives related to CSR, and giving priority to human beings. His Highness is of the opinion that building human beings is the key, and building nations is not complete without building their citizens who are the real wealth.
DEWA is committed to working with all government and private organisations to enhance Dubai’s position, and to make the Emirate the preferred place to live, work, and visit. This is part of our social responsibility and our efforts to enhance social development and fulfil our responsibility towards society. We are committed to enhancing cooperation and work as one team, as we have a spirit of teamwork and partnership that achieves the ultimate goal we all work to achieve. We are all working for the happiness of individuals and society as a whole, to enhance the status of the UAE, and increase its global competitiveness.
We have developed our CSR strategy. DEWA launched 66 initiatives during 2015, and accumulated over 14,000 employee voluntary work hours, achieving a community happiness rate of 87%. DEWA’s strategic plan includes a number of programmes to support humanitarian and charitable initiatives on nationally, regionally, and globally. These initiatives are an integral part of its role as a government organisation and its efforts to develop and support all society to create a healthy environment for the community, including people with special needs. They also support welfare, health, and education, by providing those with special needs, and their families, with modern necessities to achieve the happiness of citizens and residents."
