Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) will participate in the 16th edition of the 2017 Arab Media Forum 2017 (AMF) as Sustainability Partner. The AMF will be held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on the 1st and 2nd of May 2017 at Madinat Jumeirah.
At AMF, DEWA will focus on its ambitious projects, initiatives, programmes, and pioneering efforts in the field of clean energy, and the development of human capital to build a solid economy and sustainable civilisation. The event will take place before senior government officials from all over the world as well as media personalities and several political and academic leaders, in addition to more than 2,000 Arab and foreign media personnel.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, said, “In line with the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to revitalize civilisation in the Arab world with its natural resources, DEWA is participating as the Sustainability Partner of AMF 2017, highlighting its role in building a solid foundation for a sustainable civilisation for future generations based on renewable energy, especially solar energy; for the growth and prosperity of Dubai and the UAE at all levels."
“We are keen to participate annually in the AMF, which has become an interactive platform to discuss and exchange ideas and raise community awareness of sustainability. Social media platforms and other media institutions play a major role in helping us deliver messages addressing energy issues, conservation of natural resources, environment and rationalisation of consumption, which have become the focus of global governments to provide safe, sustainable and affordable energy. Dubai, and the UAE, have pioneered the development and implementation of strategies for transforming renewable energy sources to capture the largest share of the energy mix, as well as increasing energy efficiency and managing the demand on it, which has led to lower prices for solar power projects in Europe and the Middle East. These investments contribute to the transformation of oil and gas producing countries towards renewable energy production,” added Al Tayer.
AMF is considered the most important event of its kind in the Arab World due to the participation and interaction from a number of prominent local, Arab and international figures from the media, as well as decision makers, writers, thinkers, media leaders, academics, experts and media professionals. All of them will meet in Dubai to discuss the role of the media in supporting the dialogue between cultures and the promotion of its pillars including co-existence of religions and people, respect for others, and the rejection of hatred and racism, for building a new civilisation with co-existence and cooperation as its foundation.
DEWA supports the 16th edition of the Arab Media Forum this year as Sustainability Partner, based on close ties it has with Dubai Press Club, the Forum's organizer and in recognition of the role of the media in spreading awareness among people on various issues and topics that affect their daily lives.
