Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has today organised its Gathering for Happiness and Integration of People of Determination at its headquarters. This is part of DEWA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and coincides with the Arab Day for People with Disability. A number of federal and local government organisations, as well as centres for people of determination from across the UAE, took part in the event. People of Determination shared their skills in a number of national and traditional activities, as well as exhibiting and selling their handicrafts, paintings, and other handmade products.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, inaugurated the gathering. DEWA’s Executive Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, and representatives of government departments, and participating organisations were present. Al Tayer and the guests praised the products presented by people of determination, and emphasised the important role of such events in highlighting their talents, and integrating them into society.

“DEWA is committed to consolidating the foundations of Corporate Social Responsibility by launching developmental and social initiatives and projects that meet the needs of all members of society, especially People of Determination, and achieve their happiness. This supports the National Policy to Empower People of Determination, which was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. This will create an inclusive, restriction-free society that empowers People of Determination, and their families and guarantees their right to a dignified life. It also supports the ‘My Community... A City for Everyone’ initiative, which was launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, to turn Dubai into a friendly city for People of Determination by 2020,” said Al Tayer.

At the Gathering, DEWA showed its key initiatives and programmes to support People of Determination who are employed by DEWA, customers and society as a whole. DEWA’s employees of determination also showed their hand-made products. Organisations that took part in DEWA’s Gathering for Happiness and Integration of People of Determination included the Ministry of Community Development, Dubai Police, the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai (RTA); Dubai Municipality; the General Directorate for Residency and Foreigners’ Affairs; Dubai Courts; the Community Development Authority; Dubai Autism Centre; Al Noor Centre for People of Determination; Rashid Centre for People of Determination; Dubai Centre for People of Determination, Senses for Special Needs; Ras Al Khaimah Centre for People of Determination; Fujairah Centre for People of Determination; Ajman Centre for People of Determination, and Dibba Al Fujairah Centre for People of Determination.
