DEWA organises annual Suhour Gathering in a family atmosphere to celebrate the Year of Zayed

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised its annual Suhour Gathering for its employees at the InterContinental hotel in Dubai Festival City, in Dubai, in an atmosphere of faith, love and compassion. The atmosphere of the event reflected the spirit of the Holy Month of Ramadan, as well as Islamic and Arab values and principles. HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, along with Executive Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents and staff, attended as part of DEWA’s celebration of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

During the ceremony, the audience listened to a religious lecture delivered by Sheikh Dr Omar Abdelkafi, focusing on the need to be kind to others, the importance of tolerance and forgiveness, and to avoid talking about other people behind their backs. Abdullah Al Wasmi sang about the humanitarian values taught by the late Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The ceremony also included a draw on three prizes to travel for Umrah.

“Every year, we meet as a family to celebrate one night of this Holy Month. I hope that we, along with the Islamic and Arab community, will repeat it next year in Ramadan. This event brings DEWA’s staff closer together in an atmosphere of faith, love, compassion, kindness, and true Islamic values, as part of its corporate social responsibility. DEWA is committed to organising this event annually, as it seeks to provide a stimulating work environment for employees, in a family atmosphere that prioritises team spirit and effective social communications,” said Al Tayer.

“This Ramadan in the UAE has a special flavour, as it is in the Year of Zayed, which coincides with the celebration of the centennial of the birth of the late Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who was a symbol of charity and humanitarianism. His philanthropic work and good deeds enhanced the regional and international position of the UAE as a model for happiness and positivity, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum once said, "Zayed is the source of generosity and its origin, and he is the one who has instilled a love of giving in the hearts of his people, and we must remember him on this day for his humanity and generosity for all people, which made the Emirates a global humanitarian platform for giving." The Holy Month of Ramadan is the month of generosity, compassion, dedication to work, and charity. It is a great opportunity for the UAE to send a message of love, goodness, security and safety to the Arab and Islamic nation, and the whole world. These are the values instilled by the late Sheikh Zayed in the hearts of the people of this beloved land,” continued Al Tayer.

Al Tayer thanked DEWA’s employees for their efforts, achievements and contributions to the advancement of DEWA’s local, regional and international position.

At the end of the ceremony, Al Tayer honoured Sheikh Abdelkafy and Al Wasmi for their participation in DEWA’s annual Suhour Gathering.
