Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) will open registration for the summer training programmw for high school and university students from various technical and administrative disciplines from 15 July to 16 August 2018. Applications should be submitted to DEWA Academy no later than 20 June 2018. This is part of DEWA’s strategy to attract and sponsor local skilled students and assist them in building their abilities and preparing them to be future leaders.
“DEWA strives to achieve the objectives of the UAE National Agenda to develop the abilities of Emiratis. DEWA not only provides electricity and water services according to the highest levels of quality, efficiency, and reliability, we also work to promote Emiratisation through our strategy to prepare Emiratis to lead in the energy and water sectors by attracting national skiled workers and improving their abilities. Emaratisation in senior management has reached 85.45%,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
“DEWA’s summer training programme is an ideal place to meet with high school and university students from various technical and administrative disciplines. It helps to build closer ties between DEWA and students, and introduces them to DEWA’s work as well as its projects. This could benefit DEWA in the future, as they can later be directed according to their potential and capabilities. DEWA annually organises a rich and diverse internship programme to offer students the practical experience they need to enhance their abilities, talents, innovation and creativity,” added Al Tayer.
“During the summer training programme, students will be placed into departments that relate to their fields of study, to prepare them for the needs of the job market. The programme provides students with the opportunity to improve their skillset, and prepares them for their professional lives, while familiarising them with a working environment, and instilling positivity,” said Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA.
