DEWA’s Youth Council holds 3rd Youth Talks session

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA) Youth Council, in cooperation with the Dubai Youth Council, organised the third ‘Youth Talks’ session; one of the outcomes of the youth retreat organised by DEWA’s Youth Council following its launch. The programme comprises numerous awareness lectures and motivational workshops, adapted to the interests of the youth and DEWA’s directions. This is in line with the vision of the UAE’s wise leadership to empower and support young people, and engage them in the national quest for excellence and success. The session comes as part of DEWA’s efforts to achieve its strategic goals by spreading positive energy and creating a pleasant work environment.

The session was held at the Youth Hub, Emirates Towers, under the theme ‘Designing Buildings and Communities for a Healthier and Happier Life’, and in the presence of a large number of DEWA’s youth. The session was presented by Kate Rube, Vice President of Technical Solutions at the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI).

“We are pleased to organise the third Youth Talks session and we appreciate the efforts of DEWA’s Youth Council to involve DEWA’s youth in the development process, listen to their opinions, discuss their topics of interest, and explore opportunities for their own convenience and happiness. HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, once observed, ‘Youth are the powerhouse of any nation and its hope for building a better tomorrow as nations are built and the future shaped by youth, capitalising on their abilities and skills. They are the driving force behind any nation’s progress and advancement. We invest in youth to achieve the progress that we aspire to and steadily pave the way for a prosperous future for current and coming generations.’” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

Al Tayer praised the fruitful cooperation with the Dubai Youth Council in implementing the leadership’s vision of supporting the youth in all fields. He stressed that DEWA continuously seeks to invest in young people. It established DEWA’s Youth Council to guide the youth at DEWA and enable them to support the development process while finding innovative ways to activate their positive participation in the most important relevant issues. DEWA is also contributing to the promotion of national identity and good citizenship amongst young people, ensuring greater interaction between them and senior management of DEWA, opening a new channel of communications with the Emirates Youth Council.

Fatima Mohammed Al Jokar, Chairperson of DEWA’s Youth Council, praised the support provided by DEWA’s higher management for the council’s activities and initiatives, to achieve its objectives. She stressed that the third Youth Talks session instilled the foundations of sustainability, and promoted the concept of sustainable building among community members by adopting the concepts of health and happiness. She also added that the sessions have gained increasing popularity since its launch, with more than 200 of DEWA’s youth from various divisions in attendance, as well as candidates from other government entities.
