120 staff take part in DEWA Cycling Challenge

120 staff take part in DEWA Cycling Challenge

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised the DEWA Cycling Challenge in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council, with support from Trek Bicycles Store. The event, which supports the UAE National Sports Day, is part of DEWA’s strategy to encourage employees to pursue healthy and vibrant lifestyles and make physical activities part of their daily lives. The race, which spanned 26 kilometres in Al Qudra, Dubai, witnessed the participation of 120 DEWA employees.

Al Tayer praised the efforts of the Dubai Sports Council in supporting sports and encouraging society members to exercise and engage in physical activities by organising various activities and races. He also commended their participation in organising the DEWA Cycling Challenge. “At DEWA, we provide a positive and motivating work environment that helps employees balance their professional and social lives, and encourages them to participate in various sports activities. This is important for promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. The physical activities DEWA participates in or organises, including the Cycling Challenge, contribute to developing the participants' physical and mental capabilities, enhancing their self-confidence, and stimulating positive competition. This is done in the framework of the sporting spirit that characterises the events held in Dubai,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources and Chairman of the Sports Committee at DEWA, praised DEWA’s senior management for encouraging employees to participate in various sports tournaments and to practice physical activities. This contributes to a healthy lifestyle, stimulates positive energy, and enhances communication, social cohesion, and teamwork. He noted that DEWA’s sports teams participate in several sports championships and have achieved great results.
