On the occasion of International Women's Day, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), welcomed members of DEWA Women’s Committee, headed by Fatima Mohammed Al Jokar.  The committee presented its plan for the Year of Tolerance and showed a video for a number of DEWA’s female staff from different nationalities expressing their gratitude for what the UAE offers to women of all nationalities. They also thanked DEWA for providing an attractive and motivating environment for women.

Al Tayer praised the UAE’s efforts in enhancing the participation of women in various aspects of life since the founding of the UAE. He emphasised that DEWA provides a supportive environment to enhance creativity for all its female employees comprising 40 different nationalities.

“On International Women's Day, which this year, focuses on innovative ways to promote gender equality and women empowerment, we cannot but be proud of what the UAE has achieved in this regard. The UAE has become a global model for the empowerment of society through women, providing a supportive environment for women empowerment and leadership and making full use of their innovative and creative potential. This has contributed to unprecedented achievements among Emirati women, who have taken well-deserved top positions. Emirati women take part in the development process of all growth sectors that are based on creativity and innovation,” said Al Tayer.

Al Tayer praised the Committee’s efforts in highlighting female employees’ contributions, motivating them to succeed, prove their capabilities, and promoting their role in DEWA’s achievements across all domains. He also commended the video presented by the Women's Committee during the Year of Tolerance, emphasising DEWA’s commitment to integrating the values of tolerance in the work environment and fostering a spirit of cooperation and teamwork among all employees.

On the occasion of International Women's Day, Fatima Al Jokar, Chairperson of DEWA Women’s Committee congratulated DEWA’s more than 1,900 female employees. She noted that the video, which was prepared by DEWA’s female employees, is a message for the whole world about the excellent position women enjoy in the UAE, which hosts over 200 nationalities. The video also presents the UAE as a land of tolerance where dreams come true, especially since this year’s International Women's Day is celebrated in the UAE during the Year of Tolerance.

Aysha Al Asam, Vice Chairperson of DEWA Women’s Committee, emphasised the importance of diversity among DEWA’s female employees. DEWA regards diversity as a source of wealth for its environment supporting cultural diversity, promoting harmony, tolerance, and friendliness among all female employees.

Amal Koshak, Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications at DEWA, emphasised that DEWA plays a key role in empowering women in the workplace by providing a motivating and happy work environment to its female staff from all nationalities. This positively reflects on their professional and social lives, and has a significant impact on society as a whole. 

Mahra Bin Touq Al Marri, Manager, Excellence, Distribution Power Division at DEWA and Rapporteur of the Committee, said that celebrating the International Women's Day is part of the strategy of DEWA Women’s Committee to develop an effective and multi-pronged action plan for all female employees to motivate them to participate in various local and international events of interest to women.

Hend Al Tamimi, Assistant Manager in the Accounting Department and member of the Committee, praised the Women’s Committee for establishing effective communications with DEWA’s female staff by involving them in various activities and organising meetings and events that promote social communication among female colleagues.

Fatma Al Suwaidi, Senior Manager at the Knowledge Management Department and member of the Women's Committee, noted that the message presented by the Committee affirms the distinctive environment DEWA provides to its female employees, which helps them achieve personal, professional and psychological development.
