DEWA organises Suhoor gathering for employees

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised a Suhoor with a spiritual atmosphere for its employees at Palazzo Versace hotel in Dubai. HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA; DEWA’s Executive Vice Presidents and Vice Presidents were present. Dr Sheikh Omar Abd al-Kafi and the Islamic singer Omar Al Tahri also took part.

“This gathering brings us together every year as one family at a blessed night of the Holy Month of Ramadan. This is when fasting is an obligation for Muslims during the day and praying is a voluntary act at night. Our meeting in this blessed evening during the Year of Tolerance is part of DEWA’s social and cultural programmes to consolidate the noble principles of Islam, which are based on tolerance, brotherhood, caring for each other, altruism, and solidarity, promoting the heritage and values of the UAE society. As we celebrate the noble principles of Islam during the Month of fasting and worshipping, the Holy Month reminds us of the importance of work and worship as two Islamic values that are related to each other. It also encourages us to do good deeds during the Month of giving, and do our best to help each other and promote the values of tolerance, mutual respect, and acceptance. The Holy Month of Ramadan also reminds us that the spirit of worship and its purpose is to spread peace, love, harmony, compassion and self-improvement,” said Al Tayer in his speech.

“I pray to Allah to protect our wise leadership so that the UAE continues its role in spreading peace and tolerance and to remain a beacon of humanity and an oasis for charity and humanitarian work, extending a helping hand to the needy everywhere regardless of religion, race, or culture. This is done in the footsteps of the late Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace, and in accordance with the principles and values of the Year of Tolerance. We ask Allah Almighty to accept our good deeds in this Holy Month and that the Holy Month will be one of wellness and blessings for the UAE, its leadership, government, and people, and to realise the hopes and aspirations of the Arab and Islamic nations in a world of peace, security, and prosperity, and wish you many happy returns of these blessed days,” added Al Tayer.

The gathering included an Islamic lecture delivered by Dr Sheikh Omar Abd al-Kafi titled ‘Springs of Certainty’, and anasheed (Islamic songs) by Omar Al Tahri. Staff expressed their gratitude to DEWA’s leadership for their commitment to organising such activities that bring all staff as one family.
