Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched the Year of Tolerance Umrah initiative to send 100 male staff who are people of determination, new Muslims and employees in non-supervisory grades, as well as 10 female employees with their mahrams (husbands or close male relatives) to perform Umrah during the Holy Month of Ramadan, with support from the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai. The initiative, which DEWA launched for the third consecutive year, supports its corporate social responsibility during the Year of Tolerance to achieve the happiness of its employees.

“At DEWA, we are committed to launching initiatives and programmes that raise the spirit of solidarity and communication among staff in line with the teachings of Islam. For the third year in a row, we organise a campaign to enable staff at non-supervisory grades to perform Umrah during the Holy Month of Ramadan. This initiative is part of our strategy to make employees happy and balances their professional and personal lives. Our staff are the cornerstone for organisational excellence at all levels. This initiative is also in line with our programmes during the Year of Tolerance, to consolidate the values of compassion, generosity, brotherhood, and convergence,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“DEWA continues to launch initiatives that achieve the happiness of its employees, thereby achieving the happiness of customers and society as a whole. Sending 100 male staff and 10 female staff with their mahrams to perform Umrah, is part of DEWA’s strategy to make all staff happy. Additionally, DEWA bought Umrah packages from the Dubai Club for People of Determination as part of its policy to encourage integrating People of Determination into society in a suitable environment that gives them the opportunity to realise their potential and show their capabilities,” said Khawla Al Mehairi, Executive Vice President of Strategy & Government Communications at DEWA.
