“Zayed Humanitarian Work Day is an important annual occasion in the UAE that features charitable and humanitarian initiatives that helps millions of people around the world. Doing this follows in the footsteps of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace. Sheikh Zayed laid the foundations of humanitarian work in the UAE and extended a helping hand to the needy all over the world, regardless of their race, colour, or religion. These are the principles that our wise leadership follow. The UAE is the largest donor of Official Development Assistance in the world based on its Gross National Income. This also shows the UAE’s commitment to the noble humanitarian values that stem from the principles of Islam and Arab traditions,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
"Our celebration of Zayed Humanitarian Work Day is particularly noteworthy as it’s in the Year of Tolerance. We remember the noble principles, authentic values, and good deeds the late Sheikh Zayed instilled in the hearts of the UAE’s citizens and residents, presenting the world with a unique model for openness, tolerance, giving, and coexistence, giving all without discrimination. On this day, we pledge to continue our charitable and humanitarian efforts. We follow in the footsteps of the late Sheikh Zayed, and adhere to the directives of our wise leadership to ensure that the UAE remains the world's first humanitarian capital and a beacon of humanitarian and charitable work, alleviating human suffering anywhere in the world," added Al Tayer.
