DEWA concludes Young Innovators Summer Camp

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised the Young Innovators Summer Camp for five days at the Innovation Tent in DEWA’s head office. This is part of DEWA’s efforts to promote the role of youth in the UAE and consolidate Dubai’s position as an incubator for innovation.

“We organised this camp, as part of our continuous efforts to implement the vision of our wise leadership to promote innovation among society and the youth. The camp is also in line with our vision to be a globally leading sustainable innovative corporation, to enhance the role of the youth in the country’s development process,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation & the Future at DEWA, affirmed the importance of organising such camps to introduce the youth to modern technologies and provide them with the necessary skills to keep pace with change and development to face various challenges in the future.

The camp had around 70 students between the ages of 7 and 16, and included 5 workshops on artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, programming, innovation, sustainability, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). The first day was devoted to the 3D-printing workshop, while the second day focused on the UAV programme. On the third day, a workshop was held on vision recognition systems using AI, the fourth day focused on robotic control using Bluetooth, and the fifth day was devoted to voice recognition using AI.

Participating students were honoured at the conclusion of the camp. They expressed their happiness with the unique experience and looked forward to future educational workshops.
