Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) Women’s Committee organised various workshops in collaboration with the Apron & Glove Academy in Dubai. The workshops focused on the basics of successful housekeeping. This is part of DEWA’s strategy to provide a working environment that ensures a better work-life balance for its female staff.
Over 100 female employees from different divisions at DEWA participated in the workshops. The participants praised the workshops and the Committee’s resolve to enhance their personal and professional skills to best deal with challenges and take advantage of available opportunities.
The workshops provided advice on how to have a clean house, with practical education on housekeeping etiquette and household management. This included the basics of food preservation and storage, practical steps to help mothers prepare school bags and providing healthy, clean and properly-stored food for their children.
Fatima Mohammed Al Jokar, Chairperson of DEWA Women’s Committee, pledged that the committee will always try to help female staff enjoy a healthy work-family balance. "DEWA Women's Committee is committed to implementing the directives of the UAE’s wise leadership to empower women as the main pillar of family cohesion, as the family is the core of the community. We are working with DEWA’s senior leadership to provide a supportive and stimulating work environment to support women in everything they do. The committee organises all-year-round education, awareness and training to enhance their abilities to create promising generations and enhance their role in building connected and happy families, to achieve social and sustainable development,” she said.
“Throughout the year, the committee organises awareness, education and training activities to raise the capacity of female employees to nurture promising generations and enhance their role in building cohesive, and happy families, contributing to sustainable social development,” added Al Jokar.
“I am proud of the strong participation of DEWA employees in these workshops. These provide the right environment for employees to do their tasks properly. This considerable involvement by our committee shows how successful our plans have been so far to improve staff happiness and productivity. These efforts resulted in DEWA staff being very happy with our activities, with an 86% score in the first half of this year. We always strive to increase this rate through daily and close communication with female employees and our commitment to meeting their requirements,” added Aysha Al Asam, Vice Chairperson of DEWA Women's Committee.
