MD & CEO of DEWA receives high-level delegation from Siemens

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, received a high-level delegation from Siemens AG, led by Cedrik Neike, Member of the Managing Board. The visit underpins DEWA’s collaboration with its strategic partners. Nasser Lootah, Executive Vice President of Generation at DEWA attended the meeting.

Al Tayer welcomed the delegation and highlighted that the meeting enhances strategic collaboration between DEWA and Siemens. “DEWA strives to achieve the vision of our wise leadership to anticipate the future, and develop long-term  proactive plans to keep pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution and innovate disruptive technologies that contribute to providing world-class services that enhance the quality of life in Dubai. Our strategies and initiatives are in line with local and federal plans and strategies. These include the UAE Centennial 2071, the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, to diversify the energy mix and provide 75% of Dubai's total power output from clean sources by 2050, and the Dubai 10X Initiative, which mandates the Government of Dubai to be a global leader that is 10 years ahead of all other cities through government innovation and reformulation of traditional work mechanisms,” said Al Tayer.

DEWA has a strategic partnership with Siemens which dates back over 30 years, especially in technological solutions for energy production, and other areas including: R&D activities in energy technologies including smart grids, the integration of renewable energy and distributed generation in the electricity grid, energy storage systems, the Internet of Things (IoT), using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in energy production units, energy efficiency, cybersecurity, robotics, and smart buildings, as well as building national capacities in the energy sector.

At the end of the meeting, the Siemens delegation thanked Al Tayer for the opportunity to learn about DEWA’s initiatives and projects and its long-term cooperation.
