DEWA celebrates marriages of 107 Emirati staff at 12th ‘Anwar Dubai’ mass wedding

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has organised its 12th Anwar Dubai mass wedding for 107 of its Emirati staff at a ceremony held under the patronage and in the presence of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of DEWA. The mass wedding is part of DEWA’s CSR strategy, and its efforts to strengthen families and develop a cohesive society that preserves its national identity. The wedding took place in a joyful and festive atmosphere at the Dubai World Trade Centre. 616 staff have been married through Anwar Dubai since it was launched in 2007.

HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum was welcomed by HE Matar Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of DEWA; HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA; and Hilal Khalfan Bin Dhaher, Board Member of DEWA; along with other Board Members, Department Heads, and VIPs.

HE Saeed Al Kindi; HE Dawood Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality; HE Saif Al Falasi, CEO of the Emirates National Oil Group (ENOC); HE Ahmad Shafar, CEO of Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower); HE Abdulnasser bin Kalban, CEO of DUBAL Holding; HE Dherar Belhoul Al Falasi, Director General of Watani Al Emarat Foundation; Abdullah Al Mana; Ahmad Salem Al Moosa; and senior officials and staff from DEWA attended the ceremony, along with families of the brides and grooms.

Al Tayer thanked HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his presence and patronage of the 12th mass wedding for DEWA’s staff.  “The contribution of His Highness will add to the development of a new life for the UAE’s young men and women, and contribute to the happiness and sustainability of our people,” said Al Tayer. Al Tayer congratulated the couples and wished them happiness and success in their future family life.

“Since 2007, we have been organising Anwar Dubai to facilitate marriage for Emirati youth. This supports social cohesion among UAE people and consolidates the noble principles of Emirati society. We are committed to enhancing the UAE’s position, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as a role model for happiness and positivity. DEWA also strives to achieve the UAE Centennial 2071 for generations to come. It spares no efforts in supporting those who wish to marry and reducing the burden and cost of weddings. This supports them and their country, the land of giving,” added Al Tayer.

“Mass weddings reflect the true values of the UAE society full of values, solidarity and love. Mass weddings are part of our original community culture based on giving and good values. These values have been instilled by our Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace. The weddings are contribute to building a cohesive and stable society and promote tolerance by integrating different society members. They further raise awareness among Emiratis on responsible spending and personal financial planning,” said Al Tayer.

“DEWA’s top management supports our youth and consolidates national initiatives to support Emirati young men and women. This preserves national identity and social cohesion. It also supports building happy and settled families without unnecessary financial liabilities, so that the young couples can look towards the future positively and happily,” said Khawla Al Mehairi, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Government Communication at DEWA.

The 12th Anwar Dubai was presented by the journalist Munther Al-Muzaki Al Shamsi,It featured a host of traditional activities and shows including Ayala and Harbiya, a video highlighting all the previous Anwar Dubai mass wedding events, chanted poetry session Al-Taghrooda by poet Ali Al-Khawar and was performed by Hamad Al Ameri.
