“Zayed Humanitarian Day is observed this year amid exceptional circumstances, as the UAE has proved its leadership in charitable and humanitarian work globally. Our wise leadership continue the approach of our Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace, to provide a unique example of unlimited generosity. Their helping hands extend to support the needy anywhere in the world. They do this regardless of religion, ethnicity, or colour; committed to the worthy values that stem from the essence of Islam, Arab tradition, and the principles instilled by the late Sheikh Zayed in the hearts of Emiratis. His legacy is present in the various pioneering programmes and initiatives to help those affected by the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and provide them with a decent life equally for citizens or residents. It is also evident in the hundreds of tonnes of medical supplies and development aid the UAE sent to dozens of countries around the world to stand by them in facing this pandemic,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“DEWA’s social and humanitarian initiatives and programmes are an integral part of its efforts to empower society. Around 20 million people benefited from DEWA’s initiatives over the last five years. DEWA’s staff spent over 113,000 volunteering hours in humanitarian and community initiatives in the UAE and abroad. On Zayed Humanitarian Day, we pledge to continue these efforts, guided by the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed and the vision and directives of our wise leadership, so that the UAE remains the capital of charitable and humanitarian work worldwide,” added Al Tayer.
