Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) participated in the third Future Blockchain Summit 2020 as its strategic partner. This is in line with DEWA’s strategy to support the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to strengthen the UAE’s position to be among the most advanced and prepared countries for future developments by providing the world’s most advanced infrastructure. DEWA is participating in the 3rd Future Blockchain Summit 2020, as its strategic partner. The summit took place at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

“Our sponsorship of the Future Blockchain Summit aligns with our strategy to support events and initiatives that achieve government strategies to employ technologies of the future. These include the Emirates Blockchain Strategy, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to enhance the efficiency of government performance by transforming 50% of federal government transactions to Blockchain; and the Dubai Blockchain Strategy, launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, to make Dubai the first city to be fully powered by Blockchain,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“DEWA has a blockchain roadmap and was one of the first government organisations to adopt Blockchain technology in a number of services and initiatives, including the Green Charger registration for electric vehicles and the Payment Reconciliation and Settlement system,” added Al Tayer.

During its participation in the summit, DEWA highlighted a number of its initiatives and projects that depend on blockchain. These include the Green Charger service where DEWA manages a unified Blockchain network to manage electric vehicle activities to connect all public and private partners, such as RTA, car agencies, and private electric vehicle charging stations. DEWA is also showing the Virtual Power Plant (VPP). Through this project, DEWA intends to use Blockchain data from VPP software to record connected energy generation, such as solar power, and energy storage batteries.
