As a socially responsible government organisation, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) sponsors the Ramadan Aman 2021 campaign organised by Al Ihsan Charity Association, Ajman. The campaign aims to deliver Iftar meals for families with limited income as well as People of Determination, with the help of volunteers using their own vehicles with sealed Iftar meal boxes, according to the health and safety standards and all precautionary measures.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, praised the efforts of Al Ihsan Charity Association and their keenness to help others whilst maintaining public health and safety. Al Tayer also praised DEWA staff for their participation in the campaign on Zayed Humanitarian Day and their humanitarian efforts, whilst maintaining social distancing measures adopted by concerned authorities in the UAE.
“DEWA follows the authentic humanitarian approach instilled by the late Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, supported by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to make the UAE a global role model in humanitarian and development work, consolidate its global position as a symbol of humanitarian action. We are proud that DEWA is the main sponsor of Ramadan Aman and a great supporter of community development efforts every year, which represents the noble Emirati society as well as the values of Islam; the religion of mercy, solidarity, giving, and tolerance,” said Al Tayer.
“The annual Ramadan Aman campaign reflects the social unity and philanthropy that the Founding Fathers have instilled in the sons and daughters of Zayed. DEWA’s sponsorship of the campaign is part of its commitment to promote volunteering among staff as a national and humanitarian duty. We conducted 330 social initiatives between 2013 and 2020, with 134,637 voluntary hours for DEWA staff during this period. Employees recorded these hours, despite the pandemic, reflecting their readiness to take responsibility and commit to all preventive measures,” said Khawla Al Mehairi, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Government Communication at DEWA.
The Ramadan Aman campaign aims to distribute more than 2,000 meals with an average of 60,000 Iftar meals during Ramadan. Families are contacted through an innovative digital system.
