Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised a series of virtual awareness sessions to familiarise its staff with the Share K. Recognition Programme, which is part of DEWA’s internal excellence awards. This in turn promotes excellence and encourages healthy competition as the programme recognises employees and teams for their knowledge management and contribution. Employees are recognised for their effective utilisation of various knowledge management tools, techniques, and practices, in accordance with the highest excellence standards predefined globally and at DEWA.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, said that the Share K. programme has achieved significant results since its launch in 2012, such as winning the Ideas America Award in 2020 under Organisational Award Anniversary category.

“DEWA’s vision is guided by the words of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who said, ‘An efficient team would ideally be built on mutual trust, commitment, close cooperation, good communication and clearly set goals. Team members should be respected, appreciated, encouraged, motivated and enjoy shared responsibilities.’ At DEWA, we work to promote this culture of success and excellence. We encourage and motivate our employees continuously by recognising outstanding ones, highlighting their innovations for improving our organisational performance. We strive to make our employees happy by identifying clear tools for their recognition and encouraging positive competitiveness. This is part of our strategy to provide a positive work environment that encourages our staff to actively participate in creativity and innovation to make it a daily practice and a solid corporate culture. This is by creating an environment that promotes positive competitiveness, appreciating outstanding employees through internal excellence and award programmes which aim to improve individual and organisational competency across all operations and organisational levels,” said Al Tayer.

DEWA is keen on building the capacity of its employees through several programmes that aim to spread knowledge and share experiences. This supports its efforts to anticipate the future. DEWA provides several internal platforms to share and localise knowledge. These include Ma’rifa smart platform to determine the knowledge of its employees; the ‘Future Signals Catalogue’ for its employees to learn about future signals and modern trends, analyse and evaluate turning them into initiatives that shape the future. DEWA also provides Afkari (My Ideas) portal, an internal platform to encourage creativity and innovation in the work environment.
