Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) participated in the 9th Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament, held under the patronage of HH Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The tournament was held from 26 October to 11 November 2021.
Forty-four talented and highly-trained female employees from DEWA participated in 6 individual sports: Bowling, Running, Cycling, Badminton, CrossFit, and Padel Tennis. The individual sports were selected in compliance with social distancing and all preventive and precautionary measures.

The Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament is particularly important to DEWA as it bears the name of HH Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Her Highness is especially known for her role in empowering women and motivating all to adopt physical sports for the safety and health of society and consolidate their capabilities to work and give back to society,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“DEWA Women’s Committee provides all necessary assistance to motivate female employees to succeed and prove themselves, and to strike a balance between their professional and private lives, especially in light of the unlimited support provided by the senior management to female staff,” concluded Fatima Mohammed Al Jokar, Chairperson of DEWA Women’s Committee.
Noora Alsarah won 2nd place in CrossFit; Maryam Aldoobi won 2nd place (National Category) in Badminton; Alaa Magdi and Noura Alshamsi won 2nd place and Sara Alfalasi and Noura AlSuwaidi won 3rd place (National Category) in Padel Tennis; and Mechelle Apalit Vilar won 3rd place (Resident Category) in Badminton.
