DEWA re-certified for IMS and certified for ISO 45001:2018

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has successfully upgraded its Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series Certificate (OHSAS 18001:2007) to ISO 45001:2018 following a rigorous integrated management systems audit by Bureau Veritas. This highlights DEWA’s commitment to implement the best international IMS standards and the ongoing systematic improvement of health and safety systems in all DEWA’s divisions and eliminating work environment hazards.

“In line with the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, DEWA always puts the health and safety of customers, employees and partners at the top of its priorities. DEWA has trained and qualified staff according to the highest international standards in occupational health and safety. It works to keep its employees and those of its partners, consultants, contractors and suppliers, updated with the latest developments and best practices in occupational health and safety.   With our focus on excellence and leadership, as well as implementing the best international standards in terms of occupational health and safety, DEWA was awarded the 5-star rating by the British Safety Council (BSC), since 2002, with a 98.14% score in 2021. Despite the challenges of COVID-19, DEWA maintained its leading position. It has become the first organisation in the Middle East to receive the BSC COVID-19 Assurance Statement. DEWA also won the BSC’s Sword of Honour for health and safety for the 13th time; and received the Gold Award from International Business Excellence Award (IBXA-2020) in the Wellbeing & Health category. Additionally, we won the 2019 Best Business Award in the Health and Safety category, which is one of the most prestigious awards in the UK”, said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
