Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is organising the 11th Future Engineer Camp for 30 of its employees’ children aged between 12 and 15 years. The Camp held from 15 to 29 December 2021, includes field visit to DEWA’s Innovation Centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.

The Camp includes virtual educational sessions on building the infrastructure for power stations and water desalination plants, developing smart apps and advantages of 3D printing. The Camp enables participants to learn Python programming and the basics of engineering and electronics. It also empowers students to apply robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies and strengthen their communication skills.

“This edition of the Future Engineer Camp is an ideal opportunity to introduce participants to the best local and international models and practices in science, advanced technologies, clean and renewable energy, in addition to smart cities. This supports the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to continue to prepare the youth to actively participate in innovating and developing solutions to future challenges, and provide them with the necessary tools to preserve the UAE’s gains over the past 50 years and carry on the journey of achievements and ambitions to make the UAE the world’s leading nation by its Centennial in 2071,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“The Future Engineer Camp aims to nurture students’ passion for knowledge and scientific research. It also develops their theoretical and practical knowledge and helps them explore their potential in technologies at an early age. The Camp encourages them to study scientific and engineering subjects using the best international standards and practices. The students’ happiness from the 10th Future Engineer Camp was 100%, while the happiness of their families was 98%. Over the past editions, the Camp has attracted 314 students,” said Khawla Al Mehairi, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Government Communications at DEWA.
