Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) held a virtual ceremony to honour the 30 students who participated in the 11th Future Engineer Camp. These are children of DEWA’s employees aged 12 to 15 years old. Executive Vice Presidents and Vice Presidents attended the virtual ceremony along with the students’ guardians. The students’ happiness satisfaction rate with this session was 96%, while the parent’s happiness was 99%. The camp has attracted a total of 343 students over its 11 editions.
The two-week camp featured virtual lectures and sessions on the infrastructure of power generation and water desalination plans; developing smart apps; 3D printing; Python programming, and basics of engineering and electronics. The camp also enables the students to implement robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) as well as enhance their communication skills. The camp included a field visit to DEWA’s Innovation Centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, a global platform for renewable and clean energy innovation.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, said that the Future Engineer camp is organised to promote knowledge and scientific research among the new generation. The camp helps participants explore their potential and passion for technology at an early age and encourages them to study science and engineering. This is done in a scientific method according to the best international standards to develop innovative solutions for future challenges and supply the job market with required competencies and expertise.
The parents commended DEWA’s efforts to organise activities that ensure students grasp knowledge and expertise and simplify science and technology for the younger generation by integrating scientific theories and practical applications.
“This is the first time for my children to participate in the Future Engineer camp. I am happy with the healthy competition among participants to gain information and benefit from the camp. They also acquired positive habits that increased their passion for learning more through the sessions and lectures during the camp. Moreover, much of the camp’s content supported what they study at school,” said Saeed Mohammed Khamis Obaid, father of Ghaith, Mohammed and Suhail, who took part in the 11th Future Engineer Camp.
Samia Al Kendi, mother of Saeed Khalifa Eissa Lootah, thanked DEWA for constantly supporting the skills of the children and providing a knowledgeable and healthy environment for future generations. She was pleased with the topics of the camp and said that her son learned a lot, including various topics that fit different age groups. The camp also enhanced social intelligence and adaptability to change.
