HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), inaugurated the organisation’s events in celebration of Emirati Children’s Day, which falls on 15 March every year. Al Tayer emphasised DEWA’s commitment to achieving the wise leadership’s vision to create a better and more sustainable world for future generations. DEWA is keen to continue the journey of empowering Emirati generations that was instilled by the Founding Fathers. The UAE invests in children and people as they are the true wealth and the pillar of sustainable and comprehensive development.
“We follow the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to provide all support to the UAE sons and daughters, and invest in people as they are the pillars for developing the nation. DEWA attaches great importance to meeting its national commitments in line with the guiding principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030. This also aligns with the commitment of the UAE and the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, under the leadership of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood (Mother of the Nation), to support children’s rights. This is in line with the Wadeema law to promote children’s rights to a safe and sustainable environment. In line with the Dubai Social Agenda 33 to ensure the social stability of Emirati families in Dubai, and as part of our social responsibility, we attach great importance to strengthening national identity and consolidating the noble ethical roots of Emirati society, based on tolerance, goodness, and cohesion. DEWA aims to develop Emirati talents and competencies, and raise awareness of the new generation on how to actively participate in enhancing the UAE’s journey of excellence and leadership at all levels, achieving net zero and a sustainable future, and supporting ambitious national goals,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
“DEWA was one of the first government entities to establish nurseries to take care of the children of female employees. These childcare centres operate at the highest international standards of modern education, providing educational, cultural, and recreational activities that contribute to a proper upbringing. We are keen to provide a happy and positive environment that enhances our children’s sense of belonging and pride in their national identity and love for their country,” said Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA.
DEWA organised several events in the Innovation Tent at its head office and five childcare centres. These included several educational, cultural, and recreational activities, with the participation of around 310 children. The events also had a video showcasing the role of DEWA’s childcare centres in raising a new generation capable of continuing the development journey in the UAE.
