The Youth Council of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), in collaboration with Dubai Culture, organised a number of art workshops on the sidelines of the 13th Sikka Art and Design Festival, held under the patronage of HH Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), in Al Shindagha Historic Neighbourhood. This comes in line with DEWA’s efforts to support theDubai Social Agenda 33. The workshops saw the participation of 38 young male and female DEWA employees seeking to develop their skills in art inspired by authentic Emirati heritage, including sculptures, Islamic geometric patterns and wooden inscriptions on doors, as well as abstract water paintings of coral reefs and the process of preparing sweets.
“We are pleased to participate in the Sikka Art and Design Festival, which is a comprehensive artistic and creative event in the Emirate of Dubai. The participation of the Youth Council is part of DEWA's efforts to unleash the creativity of the youth and allow them to express their uphold to their national identity. We support initiatives that encourage young talent, enabling them to participate positively in highlighting the value of their national, cultural, architectural and environmental heritage locally and internationally, and to make Dubai – with its residential services, cultural and sporting events – the best city to live in,” said Aysha Mohammad Alremeithi, DEWA’s Youth Council President.
Members of the Youth Council expressed their happiness in organising events on behalf of DEWA’s young employees, helping them to expand their creative horizons and enabling them to actively participate in the promotion of the artistic, creative and cultural landscape of Dubai.
