DEWA launches new sustainability training programme in collaboration with TÜV Rheinland Academy

The Sustainability and Innovation Centre of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), in collaboration with TÜV Rheinland Academy, has launched the first cycle of the Sustainability Principles training programme. Students and other participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of sustainability and its importance across various fields. Adding to the centre’s existing nine professional training courses, which have seen more than 220 individuals earn accredited certificates, the programme is the fourth collaborative effort between the centre and TÜV Rheinland Academy. Their partnership focuses on enhancing technical skills and raising awareness of clean and renewable energy and sustainability. Together, they have trained 163 participants through eight cycles of three earlier certification programmes – the Greenhouse Gas Accountant Programme, the Integrated Solar Photovoltaic System Designer Programme and the Sustainability Manager Professional Certification Programme.

The Sustainability Principles programme is part of DEWA’s efforts to enhance the position of the Sustainability and Innovation Centre as a global platform for innovation and an invaluable resource for those seeking to deepen their knowledge in renewable and clean energy. The centre empowers specialists and enthusiasts by refining their skills and knowledge through comprehensive programmes that address emerging trends and pressing challenges. The professional programmes launched by the centre and its strategic partners – including local and international universities, academic institutions and start-ups – are receiving increasing attention from individuals keen to develop their academic and professional expertise to meet the future needs of the labour market and evolving skills requirements.

The Sustainability Principles programme allows participants to learn about sustainability metrics, tools, future trends and innovation in this field, enabling them to develop plans and launch sustainability-related initiatives at both a personal and professional level. Participants will also learn about the most prominent global environmental challenges, the social and economic aspects of sustainability, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how to integrate sustainability into organisations and companies. The programme will also highlight the tools and techniques used to evaluate sustainability, as well as the strategies to tackle the challenges associated with it.

The programme includes an online workshop and a training course on 19 and 20 May 2025. Registration for the training course is open through the link https://shorturl.at/tPPHm
