HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), visited the Water Control Centre at Al Ruwaiyah Building Management Complex.

Accompanying His Excellency on the tour were Abdullah Obaidallah, Executive Vice President of Water & Civil, Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources and Mohammed Al Shamsi, Vice President of Civil Projects Engineering & Home Connections Maintenance.

The state-of-the-art facility represents a major step forward in DEWA’s efforts to enhance Artificial Intelligence, automation, digital transformation and operational excellence across its water network. The centre includes a water network Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system (SCADA), to enable real-time monitoring and management of Dubai’s water transmission and distribution infrastructure, including pumping stations and reservoirs.

Equipped with advanced display technologies, the centre offers global, geographical and schematic visualisations of the water network, enabling operators to identify and respond to abnormalities, system faults and network disruptions with high efficiency. The ergonomic design of the facility also supports better decision-making and operational control, which is expected to improve overall productivity and service reliability.

Al Tayer highlighted the importance of technological innovation in achieving DEWA’s strategic goals and maintaining Dubai’s position as a global leader in sustainable and smart utility services.

This milestone reflects DEWA’s commitment to invest in cutting-edge technologies and building resilient, future-ready infrastructure to meet the growing needs of its customers.

During his visit, Al Tayer also toured the Water Cyber Security Operational Centre, the Water Call Centre and the centralised Building Management System control room (BMS) and the facilities security center.

He was briefed on the cybersecurity infrastructure in place, including advanced tools for detecting and responding to cyber-attacks. These systems play a crucial role in protecting DEWA’s operational technology and data from cyber risks while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

The Water Call Centre serves as a critical communication hub for DEWA’s water operations, integrating seamlessly with digital platforms that allow real-time tracking of customer queries, complaints and service requests. It also plays a pivotal role in handling emergencies such as supply disruptions and leaks, ensuring swift co-ordination with field teams for rapid response.

The BMS control room serves as the nerve centre for monitoring and managing DEWA’s critical infrastructure and facilities. Through a centralised system, engineers and facility managers oversee building operations such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, lighting, power, security and energy consumption across DEWA’s properties. Its integration reflects DEWA’s commitment to digital transformation and sustainability, supporting the organisation’s goals of carbon neutrality and smart city readiness through improved operational transparency and environmental performance.
