During the 27th edition of the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), welcomed HE Paul Ymkers, Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Dubai. The two sides discussed cooperation between DEWA and Dutch companies, particularly in the renewable and clean energy sector. Al Tayer stressed the importance of Dutch companies' participation in WETEX and their role in providing the latest technologies and innovative solutions in the energy, water, and sustainability sectors.

Al Tayer highlighted DEWA's initiatives that are aligned with the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. He also highlighted DEWA's commitment to innovation and sustainability, explaining its ambitious projects aimed at enhancing energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions by increasing the share of clean and renewable energy. This is in line with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. One of DEWA's most prominent projects to achieve these goals is the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model, with a total production capacity of over 8,000 MW by 2030, which will reduce carbon emissions by more than 8.5 million tons annually.

Ymkers said, “We look forward to continued cooperation between DEWA and the Dutch companies. This year, we participated in WETEX through the Dutch companies of the Holland Hydrogen Hub and hope to build on that participation next year involving companies involved in energy transition and water.”
