HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), reaffirmed DEWA’s commitment to transparency and good governance as he received the ISO 37001:2016 Anti-Bribery Management System certification for the third consecutive year from Bureau Veritas, a global leader in conformity assessment. Al Tayer said DEWA’s approach reinforces stakeholder confidence and underpins sustainable development, leadership and continuous improvement.
The certificate was presented at DEWA’s head office in the presence of Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence; Dr Ali Mohammed Almuwaijei, Vice President of Governance and Compliance; Ahmad Juma AlSuwaidi, Senior Manager of Enterprise Compliance; and DEWA’s Governance and Compliance team.
“We maintain a robust ethics and compliance management system, supported by DEWA’s Code of Ethics and comprehensive policies and procedures, including anti-bribery, anti-corruption and anti-fraud measures, anti-money laundering controls and whistleblowing mechanisms. We remain committed to strengthening our global leadership in corporate governance and internal audit by fostering a culture of excellence and accountability across all our processes, practices and operations, and by leveraging advanced analytics and artificial intelligence technologies to enhance the efficiency of audit processes,” said Al Tayer.
Bin Salman said: “We are committed to conducting our business and operations in a fair, transparent and ethical manner, in line with UAE federal laws and the legislation of the emirate of Dubai, as well as Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Guidelines on Corporate Governance of State owned Enterprises, World Bank guidelines, British Standards Institution specifications and other global standards. This commitment reflects an established organisational approach that strengthens trust and supports a work environment based on credibility and responsibility.”
DEWA affirms the strength of its compliance and anti-bribery systems by implementing the international Anti-Bribery Management System standard (ISO 37001:2016) and adopting a comprehensive set of policies and procedures that promote good governance. These include a proactive approach to risk management, robust internal audit mechanisms, secure channels for reporting violations and ongoing training to ensure the highest levels of awareness and commitment among employees. This approach reflects DEWA’s dedication to maintaining a work environment free from unethical practices and fostering a corporate culture based on trust, accountability, transparency and fairness.
DEWA won the 3G Championship Award for Digital Transformation 2025 at the Global Good Governance Awards organised by UK financial services firm Cambridge IFA. In the same year, it renewed its BS 13500 certification in Effective Governance Management Systems for the ninth consecutive year, following a comprehensive audit by BSI. DEWA’s Internal Audit Department also received a ‘Generally Conforms’ rating in a review conducted by the UAE chapter of the Internal Auditors Association (IAA), the highest rating for conformance with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
