His Excellency Saeed Al-Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, launched a huge promotional campaign under the slogan Save your time, save your energy which aims to encourage customers to use modern information and communication technology solutions and e-payment services. Mr. Al Tayer said that Dubai Electricity and Water Authority operates under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President of the United Arab Emirates, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, aims to help government institutions and departments to offer their services electronically, and to facilitate the public and business sector transactions with the government institutions by implementing and using information and communication technology solutions. DEWA is committed to contribute effectively in achieving the objectives of Dubai e-Government which aims to make radical change in government services provided to residents and businesses segments and in accordance with the best international standards in information and communication technology. He also added that 'this campaign is the largest campaign launched by the government in United Arab Emirates, and one of the longest campaigns which will last for the duration of 6 months. It will also be launched in several languages, along with Arabic and English, in order to ensure effective communication with the largest segment possible. He added that this service has been launched in conjunction with Dubai e-Government partnership, with the view of providing high quality services. Dubai e-Government offers a unified portal for the public to pay their bills electronically and free of charge by using the online payment gateway (ePay), which is an integrated and secure system allowing registered users to pay fees or fines via credit cards. Mr. Al Tayer stressed on the quality and efficiency of the e-payment services provided by the portal in terms of e-payment standards and the overall quality of electronic services, particularly with regard to safety and protection for the user. Pointing out that 97% of DEWA services have now been transformed to e-services. His Excellency explained that the characteristic and features of e-payment is to provide an efficient service and save time, and also to reduce the number of personal visits to government institutions by reducing the duration of billing and collection process, therefore avoiding wastage of time and effort, by providing secure and easy e-payment solutions, at the earliest opportunity. Concurrently working to enhance customer satisfaction regarding e-payment services offered by the Authority. H.E also, reflected on the important benefit of using modern technology in completing of the transaction online that preserves health and environmental issues making the communities safe for the future generations. Using sophisticated e-Services and high technology solutions will enable us to reduce relying on paper and other working materials that cause harmful effects on the environment. The main prerequisite to win the campaign awards, customers should pay their bills electronically through the Authority website after registering or updating their personal data. The prizes include a car every 3 months and a laptop every day and other valuable prizes will be announced soon. Finally, H.E Saeed Al-Tayer said that this is one of the first stages that DEWA will take in the upcoming period, which will be followed by many other steps offering a wide range of innovative means and channels of e-Payments services.
