DEWA launches ‘One Window/One Step Application for Getting Electricity’

In line with strategic plans to streamline procedures and as part of its vision to create a sustainable world-class utility, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is continuously improving various processes to enhance its services to a world class level. As part of these measures, DEWA has launched an enhanced e-service for getting electricity connection called ‘One Window/One Step Application for Getting Electricity’. As a result of this enhancement, the customer will be able to apply for electricity connection to new projects through the One Window system by visiting DEWA website www.dewa.gov.ae , where relevant documents and technical drawings required for issue of DEWA Estimate can be uploaded. The website also enables further coordination for procedures such as technical field inspection, etc., leading up to the release of power connection. “In line with the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, aiming to make Dubai the most preferred hub for finance, business and tourism, DEWA is relentlessly working to optimise electricity and water services so as to promote competitiveness. This is well reflected through the World Bank survey conducted during 2011, in which the UAE represented by DEWA ranked 10th in the world,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA. “We adopt efficient management, which depends upon the best practices and expertise, to optimize the operations, streamline the procedures and provide the most premium services marked by highest standards of efficiency and reliability,” His Excellency added. “We have launched this ‘One Window/One Step Application for Getting Electricity’ in line with the vision of the Government of Dubai to develop government departments and authorities and provide the most effective solutions that can enhance customer satisfaction. In this respect, DEWA was one of the first government bodies to have launched new initiatives to improve services. This new application enables customers to track the status of their applications, upload additional documents, such as Completion Certificate, etc.,” His Excellency concluded. DEWA’s Information Technology Division has contributed to the support of this project through the international SAP system for resources planning aimed at measuring and integrating all operations within DEWA to assist in providing the best services for its customers, employees and partners. The programme is part of DEWA’s strategy to attract the latest technologies, solutions and is embedded in the various electronic processes for the development of technical infrastructure, where the operations are combined in a complementary manner compatible with the highest standards and practices.
