Visit aims at sharing expertise in the SAP international programme for Enterprise Resource Planning With its reputation for applying the best standards in the field of latest electronic services, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) received a delegation from the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) at the main headquarters in Dubai. The DEWA team at the meeting included Marwan Salem bin Haider, CIO and VP—IT, Ahmed Hasan, Senior Manager for Metering Services, and Obaid Al Falasi, Manager for Tenders. The SEC delegation was headed by Fahad Ibrahim Alzamil, Head of Customer Service. The visit intended to learn about DEWA’s expertise in the SAP international programme for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), which measures, integrates and automates all DEWA’s operations to deliver top-quality services for customers, employees and partners. DEWA prioritises the exchange of expertise and knowledge with differing regional and international utilities to learn about the latest updates and be the best on both an individual and an organizational level. This is one of the foundations of DEWA’s achievements in its efforts to become a sustainable world-class utility. During the visit, DEWA presented the project’s stages of implementation, and discussed new account services as well as billing practices. The DEWA team highlighted the past ten years’ track record in operations, systems, improving employee capabilities and productivity levels. This project at DEWA aims to create an enduring model for utility services, not just in the region but equal the best global standards. The presentation also highlighted that the system will not just standardise, integrate and automate, but will also enable DEWA to provide better services to its customers, employees and business partners by enabling end-to-end integration of business processes, providing standardisation, flexibility and adaptability; providing Integrated Reporting Flexibility, ensuring better operational control, ensuring better decision support for managers and executives, ensuring accuracy, completeness and consistency in processes, improving efficiency and customer satisfaction. Towards the end of the visit, both parties thanked each other for their efforts to raise the standards in their respective markets. The SEC delegation particularly recognised DEWA’s expertise in adopting the latest global practices and continuous improvements in customer service offerings. To maintain a focus and dedicated effort in each of the business areas where SAP is being implemented, DEWA is driving the program in four projects. These are DARAHIM for Finance & Accounts, BARQ for New Connections, MAWAD for Procurement and KAWADER for Human Resources.
