Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has launched Farhat Eid (the joy of Eid), an initiative that recognises and honours the unknown soldiers who work in different positions and functions across Dubai, to serve the public during Eid Al Adha holidays. The new initiative is part of DEWA’s commitment to its corporate social responsibility. As part of the initiative, a team from DEWA visited several places in Dubai and handed out valuable gifts to staff at their job sites, to bring joy to their hearts during Eid Al Adha, especially that they are away from their families and loved ones on that blessed day. The team visited a number of hospitals and handed out presents to doctors, nurses, and staff, and also to families of babies born on the day of Eid. The team also gave gifts to mosque imams, emergency-vehicle staff, cleaners, and petrol-station employees. Before Eid holidays, the team had visited a number of schools to wish students, teachers and school administrators a happy Eid and give them appreciation gifts. “To promote social service and bring joy to the citizens and residents of the UAE. Our corporate social responsibility strategy promotes giving and solidarity among all segments of society. Our activities and programmes in this regard aim to enhance social cohesion and the sense of responsibility towards others. The aim of Farhat Eid initiatives is to bring joy to the hearts of staff who work during public holidays, and appreciate their vital efforts during Eid Al Adha holidays,” said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA. “At DEWA, we believe that the corporate responsibility of an organisation is not limited to serving its staff, customers, and partners, but extends to include all segments of society. We translate this by constantly launching innovative programmes and initiatives to serve society in the best ways possible. Farhat Eid reflects our appreciation for those who work during Eid Al Adha holidays and our recognition of the important role they play in serving the public,” said Huda Al Mutawa, Acting Vice President of Marketing & Corporate Communications at DEWA. “Farhat Eid is the fruit of collaborative efforts and coordination of volunteering work among all sectors of DEWA. A large number of staff from the Distribution Planning sector volunteered for the initiative which emphasises their belonging, patriotism and social responsibility. We look forward to participating in new volunteering initiatives that promote the social development of Dubai,” said Abdullah Al Aghbari, Vice President of Distribution Planning at DEWA.
