DEWA organises blood donation campaign for its staff under the slogan ‘A drop of blood can save their lives’

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), in collaboration with the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), has organised a blood donation campaign for its staff. The campaign, under the slogan ‘A drop of blood can save their lives,’ is part of DEWA’s corporate social responsibility, and supports its efforts to promote volunteerism among its staff and customers. DHA provided a mobile medical facility for employees from all divisions and departments of DEWA, who took part in the blood donation campaign at its head office. “DEWA plays an effective role in supporting the social development of Dubai as an active partner in supporting the Emirate’s social activities and events. DEWA encourages it staff, customers, and partners to take part in blood donation campaigns to contribute to saving lives of others. We regularly organise blood donation campaigns to spread a culture of volunteerism, altruism, and solidarity among DEWA staff who are part of the fabric of society,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA. “Blood donation is a social responsibility and a duty for anyone who is able to donate. Such initiatives emphasise the spirit of cooperation and giving, and instil a culture of sharing and good deeds, which are the characteristics of this generous country. It also supports the UAE Vision 2021, which states that, ‘Those whose actions benefit the common goodwill will become role models in a society that recognises and values those who engage and serve their country,’” concluded Al Tayer. DEWA commended the role of DHA and the support it offers to other government departments to achieve shared objectives such as health awareness among staff on the importance of blood donation, in addition to providing medical teams and equipment for blood donation campaigns. DEWA’s management praised the humanitarian qualities of its staff and their effective role in supporting humanitarian initiatives inside and outside DEWA. DEWA staff expressed their happiness to participate in this humanitarian campaign to help save the lives of accident victims and other patients who need blood. They highlighted that donating blood has a lot of benefits for the donor as it’s an opportunity to check his or her own health. It also gives the donor a sense of satisfaction for taking part, and that the blood he or she donated might save the life of another person.
