DEWA delegation conducts benchmarking with Singaporean organisations as part of DGEP’s Superiority Makers programme

A delegation from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) visited 8 major organisations in Singapore, as part of its participation in the ‘Superiority Makers’ programme, under the ‘Dubai We Learn—Knowledge Sharing and Innovation’ initiative launched by the Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP). The visit aims to conduct benchmarking, and exchange knowledge and experience. This will help DEWA to receive 7-Star rating from the programme as per the TRADE benchmarking process for best practices.

The 5-day visit included benchmarking with the Singapore Civil Defence Force, Singapore Power Services Limited, Immigration & Checkpoints Authority, Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation Limited, National Library Board, Singapore Technologies Engineering, Public Utilities Board, and Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore.

“We are committed to participate in DGEP’s initiatives to consolidate the concepts of excellence and innovation among Dubai Government employees, and develop their skills and abilities. This supports the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to raise the performance of government work according to the highest global standards. DEWA is participating in the second round of the ‘Superiority Makers’ programme, through its project titled ‘AFKARI Ideas Management System’, to increase the participation of employees in the ideas management system from 20% to 45%, and encourage staff to contribute to improving DEWA’s services and performance. It also allows us to provide an an environment conducive to excellence, creativity and innovation, as part of DEWA’s innovation strategy,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“Superiority Makers programme contributes to preparing an Emirati workforce, as well as second and third level senior positions, and encourages them to develop their abilities.  DEWA received a 7-Star rating for participating in the first edition of the programme through its project ‘Promoting and Marketing the Shams Dubai Initiative’. DEWA beat 9 government organisations by achieving the highest rate possible under this prominent excellence programme. DEWA accomplished this outstanding achievement by adopting the world’s best practices recorded by TRADE benchmarking,” added Al Tayer.

This allowed DEWA to win 5 awards at the 20th DGEP, the most prominent being the Leading Government Entity, and the Best Entity in Innovation awards,” concluded Al Tayer.
