DEWA honours graduates of the 14th Future Engineer Camp

During the ceremony, the graduates were presented with 3D-printed honorary shields. This supports the goals of the camp and DEWA’s keenness to implement the latest technologies. The ceremony saw the participation of two alumni from the 1st ‘Future Engineer’ Camp who are currently attending prestigious local and international universities. The alumni talked about their inspiring experiences and highlighted the role of the camp in motivating them to study and promote their scientific research, innovation, and creativity.

Since its launch in 2016, the camp has attracted 434 participants aged 11 to 14 years, all children of DEWA employees. 60 of the camp’s graduates have recently completed their high school education and are enrolled in universities studying various engineering fields, including computer engineering, medical engineering, architecture, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, cybersecurity, and IT.

DEWA is keen to organise the yearly summer and winter editions of the ‘Future Engineer’ camp to develop the new generation’s knowledge and scientific, social, and intellectual skills. DEWA also encourages the next generation towards scientific specialisations to become the next generation of sustainability leaders. The camp helps the students to discover their skills and capabilities and decide on their scientific and career paths at an early age.

The 14th ‘Future Engineer’ summer camp aimed to expand students’ knowledge and skills in robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), drones, 3D printing, cybersecurity, information technology security, electrical circuits, and the basics of mechanics. In addition, a number of educational activities were organised to enhance personal skills and encourage children to showcase their talents in various fields, including self-development and creative thinking. The camp programme also included a field visit to the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) and the Museum of the Future.

The students and their parents praised DEWA’s efforts to prepare the students for promising careers and encourage the new generation to learn science and technology. They noted that the camp takes into account the cognitive abilities and age requirements of the students to ensure they gain appropriate knowledge, and bring science and technology closer to the new generation through practical applications.

“We were happy to see the diverse activities that the camp offered, and its focus on introducing our children to the latest technologies and noticeably developing their skills. In addition to the various sessions with topics such as cybersecurity and virtual reality, the camp enhanced the participants’ communication skills. This emphasises DEWA’s keenness to raise a positive and responsible generation, capable of continuing the journey of development and growth,” said Yahya Al Mulla, father of Abdulla.

“The programme’s diverse agenda includes outdoor activities, entertaining scientific visits, and scientific experiments for the students to conduct. I am keen to enrol my children in all editions of the ‘Future Engineer’ camp so that they can benefit from the scientific programmes presented by an exceptional team of DEWA engineers and employees,” said Mahmoud Abufadda, father of Yara.

“The programme is effective and organised. It highlights various fields, such as engineering and science. It also focuses on developing the student’s skills. I was very pleased with my daughter’s participation in the camp. She is eager to enrol in the next edition to learn more about the various scientific fields that the programme covers, especially solar power robot models and 3D printing,” said Fatima Al Hammadi, mother of Rawda.

“I would like to thank DEWA for providing this opportunity to my sons. I appreciate its commitment to enhancing the happiness of employees and developing the capabilities of our children through innovative programmes and initiatives. I’m thankful to the team of the valuable ‘Future Engineer’ camp. The efforts of the team have contributed to the development of the camp over the years,” said Mohamed Dakdoka, father of Omar and Ahmed.

For the 14th edition of the camp, students’ happiness was 99%, while their parents’ happiness was 100%.
