DEWA Women’s Committee organised over 40 activities in 2024 to enhance role of female employees as positive change makers

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) Women's Committee organised more than 40 social and professional activities in 2024 to enhance the role of female employees as positive change makers and help them achieve a better work-life balance. The activities were part of DEWA's commitment to provide a positive work environment that supports the development of working women, with female employee satisfaction regarding the committee's performance at 96%. Over the past three years, DEWA hosted 83 new graduates, including 71 in the engineering and technical fields.

“Thanks to the support of top management, DEWA’s inspiring experience in empowering female employees has been praised and appreciated at the local and global levels. The Women’s Committee cational opportunities and training courses in various technical, development and self-development fields. It also organises events and activities, conducts benchmarking and participates in local and global events to share experiences and knowledge, as well as strengthen mutual co-operation. The committee encourages female employees to continue their education, acquire new knowledge and gain experiences that enhance both their professional and personal skills. By doing so, they can significantly contribute to development and – as mothers and makers of positive change – play a crucial role in raising the next generation,” said Fatima Al Jokar, Chairperson of the Women's Committee at DEWA.

DEWA currently has 1,939 female employees working in all its divisions. These include 746 women in the engineering and technical sectors, and 441 women in leadership positions. Emirati women constitute 84.9% of the total female workforce, with Emirati women at DEWA’s Research and Development Centre making up 52.4% of its workforce and holding higher degrees in science and engineering.
