The UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia UAE) showcased its most significant achievements over the past decade at the 21st Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development (DIHAD) exhibition held from 29 April to 1 May 2025. DIHAD 2025, which took place at the Dubai World Trade Centre, was held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
“In all our work and projects, we are guided by the proactive vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which aims to transform development and humanitarian work into sustainable institutional work, to enhance the values of giving and goodness rooted in Emirati society and to uphold the lofty principles that the Founding Fathers instilled within the people of the UAE. Under the umbrella of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, Suqia has – since its launch by His Highness 10 years ago – reached a noteworthy milestone in its efforts to improve the lives of millions, alleviate the suffering of communities most affected by the global water crisis and foster innovation in finding sustainable solutions to address water scarcity,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Suqia UAE, during his visit to Suqia’s stand at DIHAD.
Suqia’s stand at DIHAD 2025 featured a dedicated space to showcase its past achievements to encourage innovation in sustainable water solutions and to advance humanitarian and development projects to provide clean water to disadvantaged communities. The platform further highlighted the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award, supervised by Suqia, with prizes totalling USD 1 million. The award encourages the development of cutting-edge technologies for water purification and desalination using renewable energy sources, including solar, wind, biomass, hydroelectric, osmosis and geothermal energies. In previous cycles of the award, Suqia honoured 31 winners from 22 countries. The fourth cycle of the award has received entry applications from 46 countries, with the winners expected to be announced in the coming period.
Suqia’s platform also highlighted its achievements in providing potable water to about one million people in Tanzania, in collaboration with the Emirates Red Crescent. So far, more than 775,000 people have benefitted from Suqia projects in Tanzania. Suqia further aims to complete the project and reach a million beneficiaries during the third quarter of 2025 through the implementation of 157 projects. Suqia UAE's projects have benefited approximately 15 million people in 37 countries, through the implementation of more than 1,000 sustainable water projects, since the Foundation's launch in 2015.
