The meetings were attended by Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence; Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future; Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources; Khawla Al Mehairi, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Government Communications at DEWA, and Mohammad Bin Sulaiman, CEO Of Data Hub Integrated Solutions (Moro Hub).
During the meetings, Al Tayer underscored DEWA’s proactive strategy to partner with global technology leaders, with the aim of leveraging AI and advanced digital solutions, and exchanging expertise in sustainable infrastructure, to reinforce Dubai’s position as a globally leading smart and sustainable city.
Masdar
During his meeting with Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar, Al Tayer affirmed DEWA’s keenness to strengthen partnership and cooperation with Masdar and encourage investments in the clean and renewable energy sector. This aligns with the UAE Net Zero 2050 Strategy, and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, which aims to provide 100% of Dubai’s energy production capacity from clean sources by 2050.
Al Tayer outlined DEWA’s strategic direction, which supports Dubai’s vision to consolidate its position as a global hub for innovation and sustainability. He highlighted DEWA’s pivotal role in translating ambitious visions into tangible projects, including the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which currently has a capacity of 3,860 MW and is set to exceed 8,000 MW by 2030.
Al Tayer also discussed the expansion of DEWA’s EV Green Charger network, which has grown to more than 1,860 charging points across Dubai, including stations licensed by DEWA in collaboration with government and private sector entities.
Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s unprecedented achievements and global leadership as one of the world’s leading utilities in the energy and water sectors. DEWA ranked first globally in 13 key performance indicators across its areas of operation, according to a recent study conducted by a specialised international consultant. Losses in Dubai’s electricity transmission and distribution networks stood at 2.0%, compared to 6–7% in Europe and the United States, while water network losses were 4.5%, compared to approximately 15% in North America. DEWA achieved a new world record in electricity Customer Minutes Lost (CML) per year, with Dubai recording 0.94 minutes per customer annually, compared to approximately 15 minutes among leading electricity companies in the European Union. In addition, the availability of both the electrical system and electricity transmission lines reached 100%.
Schneider Electric
In his meeting with Walid Sheta, Schneider Electric's President of Middle East and Africa region, and Amel Chadli, the company’s president in the Guld countries, Al Tayer talked about DEWA’s efforts in energy storage and the green data centres managed by Moro Hub, a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, DEWA’s digital arm, which is a leader in data hosting and cloud services. It operates the world’s largest green solar-powered data centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, according to Guinness World Records. Key areas of focus included energy resilience, digital transformation, network modernisation and carbon emissions reduction.
Al Tayer also highlighted DEWA’s smart grid, with investments totalling AED 7 billion up to 2035, supporting the wise leadership’s vision to make Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world.
ServiceNow
During a meeting with Cathy Mauzaize, President for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at ServiceNow, the two parties explored prospects for collaboration, focusing on leveraging advanced digital solutions to enhance the efficiency and resilience of Dubai’s energy and water services and improve customer experience. Discussions covered the integration of AI, data analytics and unified workflow automation to accelerate DEWA’s ongoing digital transformation.
Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s pioneering role and comprehensive AI roadmap, noting its strategic transformation to become the world’s first AI-native utility. This approach embeds AI across DEWA’s structure, culture and strategy from the outset.
