Service Description

This service enables customer to create a new Electrical Vehicle (EV) account with DEWA and issue Electrical Vehicle (EV) Green Charger Card, replace the lost/damaged Electrical Vehicle (EV) Green Charger Card and deactivate Electrical Vehicle (EV) account with DEWA.

For new registration of an EV with RTA, and as per the digital integration, DEWA will proactively create an EV account and send a welcome email that includes the new account number, security deposit details and payment link.

Note: Customers should follow the instructions provided on the DEWA website and smart app to ensure safe and efficient charging. Forcefully removing the cable can cause damage to both your vehicle and the charging station, so please follow the instructions carefully. In case of emergency, please call 991.

Disclaimer: DEWA shall not be liable for any loss or damage to customer assets incurred during the use of DEWA’s public EV chargers.

 

Service Requirements

  • For DEWA customers Log-in with User ID & Password through DEWA website (www.dewa.gov.ae) or DEWA Smart App.
  • For non-DEWA customers creating online account is required through DEWA website (www.dewa.gov.ae
    or DEWA Smart App.

Create EV Account

For vehicles registered outside Dubai:

  • Individual: Emirates ID number (or passport copy for GCC/ investors) and vehicle license.
  • Business: Company trade license and vehicle license 
  • Government/ Semi Government: Vehicle license 

For vehicles registered within Dubai:

  • No documents are required due to their availability based on the integration with RTA.

Replace EV Cards

  • N/A

Deactivate EV Account

  • Settling final bill amount (if any)

Service Steps & Procedures

Create EV Account

  • For DEWA customers: Log-in with DEWA ID/UAE PASS through DEWA website or DEWA Smart App.
  • For non-DEWA customers: creating DEWA ID/UAE PASS is required through DEWA website or DEWA Smart App.
  • Customer to apply for EV account creation.
  • Customer receives notification number via email and SMS to follow up the status of the request.
  • Green Charger card will be delivered to customers through a courier company within 3 working days of creating the account.
  • Alternatively, Customer can login into Smart App with his credentials (User ID and Password) and use the QR code to charge the electrical vehicle.

Replace EV Cards

  • Customer to login with DEWA ID/UAE PASS through DEWA website or DEWA Smart App.
  • Customer to apply for replacing Green Charger card.
  • Pay your outstanding amount, if any
  • Customer receives notification number via email and SMS to follow up the status of the request.
  • Green Charger card will be delivered to customers through a courier company within 3 working days of applying for the service.

Deactivate EV Account 

  • Customer to login with DEWA ID/UAE PASS through DEWA website or DEWA Smart App.
  • Pay your outstanding amount, if any
  • Customer to apply for deactivation of EV account.
  • Receiving notification number via email and SMS to follow up with status of request.
  • Issuing Final Bill.
  • Closing account.
  • Paying final bill amount (if any).
  • Refunding the security deposit (if any).

Service Fees

Create EV Account

Fees are applicable as following:

A. Security Deposit:

  • Individual (non-commercial) and Business (Commercial): D 500/-
  • Government: Exempted from Security Deposit

B. Delivery Charges:

  • Individual (non-commercial) and Business (Commercial): D 20/-
  • Government: D 20/-

C. Consumption fees::

  • Individual (non-commercial), Business (commercial) and Government:

  • AC charging: D 0.7/kWh + VAT
  • DC charging: D 1.2 /kWh + VAT


Replace EV Cards

  • Card replacement fees for all categories are D 200/- , delivery charges: D 20/-

*VAT will be charged as applicable



Deactivate EV Account 

  • Free of charge.

Service Channels

  • 24/7 through DEWA website (www.dewa.gov.ae) and DEWA Smart App
  • DEWA Customer Care Centre (Through Interactive Voice Response - IVR) 04-6019999. This service is available through IVR only for the following:
  • - Create EV Account: Customer must be an Individual and Vehicles must be registered in Dubai
    - Deactivate EV Account: There should be no outstanding amount on the account

  • Dubai Now App (for Individuals only)

Service Delivery Time

Activate EV Account:

  • The Green Charger card is delivered to customers through a courier company within 3 working days after request and payment of Security Deposit completion either through DEWA website (www.dewa.gov.ae), Smart App, or Interactive Voice Response (IVR) by calling Customer Care Centre at 04-6019999

Replace EV Green Charger Card:

  • The Green Charger card will be delivered to customers via courier within three working days from the date of submitting the service request, after the replacement fee has been paid.

Deactivate EV Account:

  • EV Final bill will be processed within 3 working days and you will receive your final bill at your registered email ID.

Key Information

This service presents different journeys depending on the scenario:

  • For new electric vehicles (EVs) registered with RTA, and as per the digital integration with RTA, DEWA will proactively create EV Account. Alternatively, users can create EV account through the DubaiNow App or DEWA’s digital channels.
  • Unregistered users can use Guest Mode feature and proceed directly with charging scanning the QR code placed on the Green Charger stations.

Getting Service Information
  • Search for details about Dubai’s EV infrastructure and how to charge your electric vehicle.

Applying for the Service
Partners (through integration with RTA):
  • Once an EV is registered with RTA, DEWA will automatically send a welcome notification that contains your EV account details, the security deposit to be paid, EV Green Charger card details, a payment link and charging instructions.
  • Payment confirmation is sent once you pay the security deposit and EV Green Charger card delivery fees.
  • Your DEWA EV account will be activated.

Partners (through the DubaiNow App):
  • Register /log-in to the DubaiNow App using UAE Pass.
  • Select “Driving” category, then go to the “EV Registration and Charging” service and select “Create New EV”.
  • Fill out the required information, pay the security deposit (as applicable) and EV Green Charger card delivery fees, and then you will receive a receipt.
  • Submit the application and get an on-screen confirmation with a reference number.
  • Your DEWA EV account will be activated, and you will receive an acknowledgement message with a request number, account details and EV charging instructions.

  • Register / log-in using UAE Pass or DEWA ID.

  • Go to “EV Account & Charging Card Management” service and select “Create EV Account”.
  • Fill out the required information, pay the security deposit (as applicable) and EV Green Charger card delivery fees, and then you will receive a receipt.
  • Submit the application and get an on-screen confirmation with a reference number and next steps. Your DEWA EV account will be activated, and you will receive an acknowledgement message with a reference number, account details and EV charging instructions.

Through the DEWA Customer Care Centre’s Interactive Voice Response (IVR) helpline:

This is available only for account activation for EVs registered with RTA.


  • Contact the DEWA Customer Care Centre’s IVR helpline.
  • Choose the “EV Account & Charging Card Management” service and select “Create EV Account”.
  • Complete all the required verification steps.
  • Provide the required information and receive a payment link to pay the security deposit and EV Green Charger card delivery fees.
  • Pay the required amount and receive your receipt.
  • Your DEWA EV account will be activated and you will receive an acknowledgement message with a reference number, account details and EV charging instructions with a tracking link.

Interaction During Processing
  • You will receive a call from a courier to schedule the delivery of your EV Green Charger card.
  • Receive your EV Green Charger Card.
  • DEWA will call you to confirm delivery of your EV Green Charger card and to check whether it is working properly.

Completing Service Interaction

For registered users (through EV Green Charger card):


  • You can view the locations of EV Green Chargers through the DEWA website/Smart App or through the DubaiNow App. This map allows you to locate the nearest charging station and get the necessary instructions.
  • At the EV Green Charger station, initiate the charging cycle by scanning your EV Green Charger card, and charging will begin.
  • Plug in the charging cable.
  • When charging is completed, stop the charging cycle by scanning your EV Green Charger card.
  • Unplug the charging cable.
  • The charging fees will be added to your coming Green Bill.

For registered users (through DEWA Smart App or the DubaiNow App):


  • View the locations of EV Green Chargers through the DEWA website/Smart App or the DubaiNow App. This map allows you to locate the nearest charging station and get the necessary instructions.
  • At the EV Green Charger station, use the DEWA Smart App or the DubaiNow App to initiate the charging cycle by selecting the nearest charger through the geofencing feature or by scanning the QR code.
  • Select the vehicle and EV Green Charger card (if multiple EVs are linked), and then the charging process will start.
  • Plug in the charging cable.
  • You can view the charging progress via the DEWA Smart App or the DubaiNow App.
  • When charging is completed, stop the charging cycle by pressing the “End” button.
  • Unplug the charging cable.
  • The charging fees will be added to your coming Green Bill.

For Unregistered Users - Guest Users (through DEWA Smart App):


  • View the locations of EV Green Chargers through the DEWA website/Smart App or the DubaiNow App. This map allows you to locate the nearest charging station and get the necessary instructions.
  • Go to the “EV Charging” service on the DEWA Smart App and proceed as a guest. 
  • At the green charger station.  Scan the QR Code or select the available green charger from the list of nearby chargers.
    If the user does not have the DEWA Smart App, they can use their device's camera to scan the QR code and proceed through the website.
  • Provide the required information and complete the verification steps.
  • From the available estimated values, select your preferred charging duration and then pay the fees.
    Note: The amount will be held temporarily, and users will be charged based on actual consumption after charging is complete.
  • Initiate the charging cycle, and plug in the charging cable.
  • You can view the charging progress via DEWA Smart App.
  • Charging will automatically stop based on the selected time period. Alternatively, you can stop the charging cycle by pressing the “End” button at any stage.
  • Unplug the charg
