Great success for DEWA as 47 global companies express interest in developing 7th phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park

DEWA expands electricity distribution network to meet growing demand

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), announced that DEWA commissioned 1,530 11 kV distribution substations across Dubai in 2024, marking an 8.2% increase compared to 2023. The construction of these substations and related work resulted in a total of 1,070,670 man-hours, all completed according to the highest standards of health and safety. Al Tayer said that there were 45,317 medium voltage (11 kV and 6.6 kV) substations by the end of 2024. He noted that the rise in the number of distribution substations is a new indication of the expansion of DEWA's energy infrastructure to keep pace with Dubai's rising demand for electricity driven by its economic and urban growth.

DEWA reduces carbon emissions through significant improvement in electricity and water production efficiency

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has said that DEWA made a significant achievement in improving electricity and water production efficiency in 2024, with a 43.61% increase compared to 2006. This equates to a cumulative reduction of 104 million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions between 2006 and 2024, equivalent to planting 527 million trees to absorb this amount of CO2. Al Tayer noted that this improvement in electricity and water production efficiency contributed to DEWA's achievement of substantial financial savings.

DEWA approved 127,268 NOC applications under Soqoor programme in 2024

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), announced that DEWA approved 127,268 No-Objection Certificate (NOC) applications under its Soqoor programme in 2024. These applications were submitted by 2,390 consultants and contractors as of 31 December 2024, marking a 6% increase compared to 2023. This rise reflects the growing number of infrastructure projects in Dubai. The Transmission Power division approved 67,220 applications, the Distribution Power division approved 42,845 applications and the Water & Civil division approved 17,203 applications.

DEWA to train fifth batch of the Integrated Solar PV System Designer programme in April

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) will hold a training programme for the fifth batch of the Integrated Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System Designer programme this coming April. The programme, organised by DEWA’s Sustainability and Innovation Centre and TÜV Rheinland, seeks to empower interested professionals by refining their skills and knowledge in solar and renewable energy. It will also provide training on solar PV systems and plants, design methods, installation, testing and maintenance, and the evaluation of solar PV projects. Participants who complete the training and pass the final test will receive professional certificates in the design and installation of solar energy systems.

DEWA’s general assembly approves dividend payment of AED 3.1 billion to shareholders for H2 of 2024
