Emaar highlights its efforts to redefine urban living for a sustainable future during its participation in WETEX and DSS 2023

The 25th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) and Dubai Solar Show (DSS) will see the participation of Emaar Properties as the Jubilee sponsor. Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is organising the exhibition under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, from 15 to 17 November 2023 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

DEWA’s stand at COP28 highlights its globally leading projects in sustainability

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)’s stand at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), which will be hosted by the UAE at Expo City Dubai, showcases its most prominent and globally leading projects and those of its subsidiaries. The stand will be located in the Green Zone, and will highlight DEWA’s efforts in energy, water, clean and renewable energy, space, digital transformation, green mobility, smart grid, investing in innovation, and the latest disruptive technologies. It also underscores DEWA’s contribution to enhancing the UAE and Dubai’s leadership in various sustainability fields. The stand includes an area for specialised workshops, sessions, and panel discussions on sustainability, and forecasting and shaping the future.

WGES 2023 thematic pillars support the UAE’s priority areas for COP28

The World Green Economy Summit (WGES) has revealed the thematic pillars of its 9th edition, which are: green policy, green finance, green technology and innovation, green energy, and green partnerships. These pillars align with the UAE’s priority areas for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), which will be hosted by the UAE at Expo City Dubai from 30 November to 12 December 2023.

DEWA commissions second unit in the 4th phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, adding 200MW of clean energy using parabolic basin complex technology

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has commissioned the 200MW second unit of the parabolic basin complex in the fourth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. This phase uses the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model with investments of up to AED 15.78 billion. It is set to provide clean energy for approximately 320,000 residences and reduce carbon emissions by 1.6 million tonnes annually. The 950MW 4th phase is the largest single-site project in the world that combines Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) and photovoltaic technologies.

DEWA signs agreement with Dubai Media Incorporated during the Arab Media Forum 2023

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has signed an agreement with Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) to promote effective partnership and collaboration. This serves the strategic goals of the two parties and provides added value to their national role to keep pace with new developments in the UAE and the Emirate of Dubai. The signing of the agreement was during the 21st edition of the Arab Media Forum (AMF). DEWA participated in AMF as the Sustainability Partner of the event.

DEWA organises a specialised seminar on sustainable buildings

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)’s Research and Development (R&D) Centre has organised a specialised seminar in the presence of HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA. The seminar, entitled ‘Optimisation of Building Design for GCC Region’, was held at DEWA Academy and was attended by a large number of DEWA officials and employees. It is a part of the Al Baheth programme, which was launched by the R&D Centre to develop and refine Emirati talents and competencies. The programme also encourages them to engage in research, competitions, events and training, organised by the Centre in collaboration with major international companies and a select group of researchers, academics and international speakers.

To mark International Day of Law 2023, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised a virtual forum under the theme ‘Rule of Law and Sustainability’. The forum included several activities, panel discussions, awareness newsletters, and cultural competitions. It aimed to enrich the knowledge of DEWA’s employees on legal aspects and DEWA’s policy that aims at achieving legitimacy and the rule of law, within a framework of institutional flexibility and agility to achieve sustainable development.

DEWA’s three global events expand horizons for the success of COP 28

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is organising several global events in November that will expand the horizons and success of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28). The UAE is hosting COP28 at Expo City Dubai in November 2023. These events support the vision of HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; and HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to organise the most successful global environmental conference. The UAE seeks to realise the international hopes and aspirations for COP28 and achieve tangible results that effectively contribute to accelerating carbon neutrality and achieving sustainable socio-economic development.
