HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has participated in a discussion panel at the Asian Business Leadership Forum (ABLF), which is organised under the patronage of HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, at Armani hotel Burj Khalifa. Other participants in the discussion panel included HE Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Tsuyoshi Nakai, CEO of Japan Cooperation Centre Petroleum (JCCP), and Dr Chun-Yuan Gu, President, AMEA Region, ABB, China. The session was moderated by Kim Kelaita.

During his participation in a discussion panel entitled ‘Managing Development Projects’ as part of the 4th Dubai International Project Management Forum, organised by the Dubai Roads and Transportation Authority (RTA), HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has emphasised DEWA’s quest to achieve the vision of the wise leadership to promote sustainable development in the UAE. This is done by applying the three aspects of sustainable development: society, environment and economy in all its development projects, and adopting best global practices and the latest methods of project management, to ensure global level of reliability, efficiency, and safety.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) received Isabelle Kocher, CEO of ENGIE Group, who was heading a high-level delegation from the French company to meet DEWA, which is keen to leverage cooperation with major global companies to exchange knowledge and share best practices in the energy sector. Al Tayer welcomed the French delegation and emphasised the importance of such meetings which would enhance joint cooperation. He presented DEWA’s most important programmes, projects, and initiatives in line with the ambitious vision of the leadership in foreseeing the future and achieving the objectives of the UAE Centennial Plan 2071 to ensure a happy future and a better life for the next generations, and to raise the status of the UAE to be among the best in the world.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has recently organised a second workshop on the effect of soiling on photovoltaic (PV) modules, in cooperation with the United States Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). PV experts from research, academic, and government organisations participated in the workshop held in Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

DEWA sponsors ‘Clean-Up the World’ Campaign to clean up the beaches of Jebel Ali Marine Sanctuary

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) sponsored ‘Clean-Up the World’ campaign, organised by the Emirates Marine Environment Group (EMEG), to clean up the coastal beaches of Jebel Ali Marine Sanctuary, plant mangroves trees, and release the finned black seabream fish into the sea. HE Saeed Mohammed AL Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, took part in the activities in the presence of Barbara Leaf, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, and Paul Malik, the U.S. Consul General in Dubai. Also, a number of DEWA senior officials, employees, and stakeholders, along with scout groups from USA and UK, attended the event.

Delegation from DEWA visits SDME site in Denver USA

A delegation from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) visited the site of the Solar Decathlon, which is currently being held at Denver, Colorado, USA, to review the best practices to organise this event. This is part of DEWA's on-going efforts to strengthen Dubai's global position as a hub for sustainability and green economy, and to prepare it for hosting the Solar Decathlon Middle East (SDME) for the first time in the Middle East and Africa (MENA), in 2018 and 2020.

Al Tayer receives Japanese Consul-General

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), received HE Akima Umezawa, the new Consul-General of Japan in Dubai, and congratulated him on his new position. Umezawa was accompanied by Jumpei Yamaguchi, Vice Consul, Economic Section. This comes within the framework of diplomatic and consular visits to DEWA.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has organised a DEWA Digital Day workshop for its staff. Experts from international organisations including Microsoft, SAP, Ernest & Young, and Navigant took part in the workshop, to discuss digital transformation in DEWA and its initiatives to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics, and develop disruptive technologies. This is with a view to DEWA becoming one of the most prominent digital utilities in the world, in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution that the world is experiencing.
