DEWA signs MOU with Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HE Abdulla Nasser Lootah, Director General of the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority (FCSA), to promote strategic cooperation and partnership between the two. The MoU will sustain the UAE's global leadership, raise its global competitiveness, enhance DEWA's efforts to achieve economic, social and environmental objectives (both locally and nationally), achieve comprehensive sustainable development, and enhance the UAE’s status in global benchmarking. This reflects the vision of our wise leadership to enhance the UAE’s global competitiveness and make it rank first in all fields.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), gave a keynote speech in the plenary session about DEWA’s work on innovation and sustainability at The Energy Industries Council Conference, which is organised by the UK Energy Industries Council (EIC) at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Abu Dhabi. The plenary session included HE Dr Matar Hamed Al Neyadi, Undersecretary of Ministry of Energy and Industry, HE Philip Parham, British Ambassador to the UAE and Stuart Broadley, Executive Chairman of the UK Energy Industries Council. The conference included an exhibition to show innovative technologies, products and services, the current and future opportunities in the energy sector. It has involved companies and suppliers from Britain and the United Arab Emirates.

DEWA opens registration for 2nd Solar Decathlon Middle East in Dubai

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced that registration is now open for the second Solar Decathlon Middle East (SDME). SDME was created through an agreement between the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, DEWA, and the United States Department of Energy. Dubai will host the first two rounds of the Solar Decathlon. The first in November 2018, and the second in 2020.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has selected three companies to collaborate in developing solutions to the challenges that DEWA is participating in, during the 4th Dubai Future Accelerators Programme. The programme is the largest business accelerator programme in the world. The 4th cycle will be held for 9 consecutive weeks from 21 March to 17 May 2018. 12 government organisations are taking part under the theme ‘Take Part in Creating the Future’.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has witnessed the signing of the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for the 700MW fourth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) investment project in the world based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model. The contract was signed between Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power and China’s Shanghai Electric, the project’s main contractor, at the Radisson Blu Plaza Xingguo hotel in Shanghai, China.

The session was held at DEWA’s Sustainable Building in Al Quoz, with the presence of participating teams, experts, and stakeholders. The Programme was launched by DEWA, with support from the Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence (Dubai Carbon).

A high-level delegation that includes 25 officials, experts, and specialists, from the World Bank, energy companies and international utilities, visited the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai to learn about Dubai's experience in developing leading photovoltaic and Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) projects. This took place at the conclusion of the 3-day ‘CSP Markets, System Value, and Financing workshop’, which was organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) in cooperation with the World Bank.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Amity University Dubai to promote the exchange of knowledge, best experiences and practices on renewable energy, smart grids and emerging technologies. This is part of DEWA’s efforts to enhance cooperation with academic institutions.

DEWA reviews projects and initiatives at Dubai International Government Achievements Exhibition 2018

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) participated in the 6th Dubai International Government Achievements Exhibition (DIGAE), under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The exhibition was held under the theme ‘Government Practices… Global Achievements.’ It was organised by the Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP), part of the General Secretariat of the Executive Council of Dubai, from 9—11 April 2018, at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The exhibition shows DEWA’s most important projects, initiatives and programmes to enhance the sustainability of the energy sector. This supports DEWA’s strategy to enhance and exchange experiences and best practices in government work.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) received 26 students from New York University Abu Dhabi, at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. The visit briefed students on the latest developments in clean and renewable energy, and Dubai’s plans to promote sustainability and move towards a green knowledge-based economy with a focus on innovation and creativity. This supports DEWA’s efforts to promote the development of knowledge among university students and prepare future leaders.
