EU expert praises DCES 2050

His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) welcomed Faouzi Bensarsa, Senior Regional Adviser for cooperation and development at the European Commission, at DEWA Head Office. Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Strategy & Business Development at DEWA, also attended the meeting.

The meeting is one of DEWA’s ongoing visits to exchange knowledge and best practices in clean energy, sustainability, Research & Development (R&D) and innovation, by leading international organisations. Al Tayer expressed DEWA’s appreciation for the efforts made by the European Union (EU) internationally. He also briefed Bensarsa on DEWA’s progress with its efforts to improve services.

DEWA is working to achieve the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who is a major source of inspiration, and has provided a road map for DEWA to follow. DEWA is launching strategic initiatives and making significant progress towards becoming one of the best countries in the world, to achieve the UAE Vision 2021, and further developing Dubai’s position as a global hub for trade, finance and tourism, further reinforcing efforts to transform Dubai into a global centre for clean energy and green economy.

Bensarsa commended the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, which was launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to make Dubai a global hub for clean energy and green economy, and requested Al Tayer’s participation in a session on sustainability, organised by the EU, to take place in Belgium. Bensarsa also expressed his intention to attend the World Green Economy Summit on 5–6 October, 2016 to contribute to discussions on renewable energy and innovation, which coincides with the Water, Energy, Environment, and Technology Exhibition (WETEX) 2016.
