HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer Vice Chairman of Dubai’s supreme Council of Energy (SCE) received at his office a high-level Iranian delegation comprising Dr. Amiri Khamkani, Chairman of Energy Commission -Iranian Islamic Parliament, Mohammad Hasan Nejabat, Member of Energy Commission, Mohammad Hashemi, Director General of Tehran Distribution - Iran’s Power Generation Transmission and Distribution Management (TAVANIR), Valiaddin Maslahati, Director General Consultant - TAVANIR, Gholamreza Rajabi, R&D Manager - TAVANIR, Mohammad Parsa, Chairman - Iran Electrical Industry Syndicate(IEIS), Hamid Reza Salehi, Director General and Member of the Board - IEIS, Parviz Rezaei, Commercial Attach & Chairman of Iran Trade Center - Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Also the meeting was attended by Mr. Nejib Zafraani , Secretary General of Dubai’s Supreme Council of Energy, and Mr. Waleed Salman , Acting Vice President – Strategy & Business Development at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority. The discussion dealt with the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between Dubai Electricity and Water Authority ( DEWA) and Iran’s Power Generation Transmission and Distribution Management (TAVANIR) regarding electricity linking between Iran and Dubai through a marine cable with the capacity of 400 KV. The length of this line will be 180 Km with the capacity of 1500 MW. In this way Dubai will be a future crossing to link between the Gulf Cooperation Council, Iran, Turkey and Europe. HE Saeed Al Tayer briefed the Iranian delegation on the project which intends to effect an exchange of electricity between the two sides according to the set, planned, and agreed upon needs. HE Saeed Al Tayer further stated that agreement which was previously discussed focuses upon collaboration between the UAE and Iran. HE also stressed the fact that electricity link between the two countries will apply only to “Direct Current”. Preparations and arrangements are being made to commence the second phase of the project. This phase includes setting technical specifications and preparing tenders for selecting the international consultant. On his part, the Iranian delegation praised the initiatives launched by the SCE. At the end of the visit, the delegation extended their thanks to HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer for providing them with the opportunity to closely cooperate with Dubai’s supreme Council of Energy.
