Dubai Electricity and Water Authority launches a main Substation for Al Maktoum International Airport

As part of its relentless pursuit, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) launched a new main 132 KV Substation of 150 Megavolt Ampere belonging Al Maktoum International Airport in Jebel Ali which is operated by Dubai Airports Company, during the second quarter of this year. The new substation is connected to DEWA’s power transmission grid so as to secure the ever-growing demand for electricity for different purposes in the area. His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA said: “DEWA spares no effort to support 132/11 KV power transmission grid so as to enhance the efficiency of grids to meet the growing demand for DEWA’s services, and to carry out its vital projects especially in the field of infrastructure.” “The project aims to enhance the capacity of DEWA’s power transmission grids to Al Maktoum International Airport in Jebel Ali. In that regard, 132 KV ground cables were extended at the length of 12 Kilometers to join the 11/132 KV main transformation substation Jebel Ali. This will definitely ensure uninterrupted and stable supplies to Al Maktoum International Airport,” His Excellency further added. His Excellency pointed out: “This substation, which is in compliance with DEWA’s substations approved specifications, is equipped with the most up-to-date digital technology so as to contribute to enhancing its reliability and efficiency.”
