DEWA’s Information Technology Division recognised for pioneering achievements

MD & CEO of DEWA praises culture of innovation of e-service delivery to customers and stakeholders HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has recognised and praised the achievements of the Information Technology Division (ITD) for its work on e-services and the successful implementation of the SAP enterprise resource planning at DEWA. The MD & CEO personally thanked Marwan Bin Haider, CIO and VP—ITD and other members of ITD at DEWA headquarters for their dedication and hard work on DEWA’s SAP e-transformation project. “DEWA is committed to delivering the best possible services to its customers here in Dubai. This recognition serves as token of appreciation for ITD’s contribution and as an expectation of greater successes with future phases of SAP’s implementation. With the onset of increased interactivity and connectivity and the increasing importance of enterprise resource planning for public utilities around the world, our Information Technology Division has proven its capability and achievements for the world to see. Today, our customers have the widest-possible reach to access our services through a variety of mobile devices. This saves time, money and, most-importantly, energy for our customers. This enables DEWA to achieve its vision to be a sustainable world-class utility, which in turn supports the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, for a sustainable future for Dubai,” said Al Tayer. “DEWA’s success means Dubai’s success, and on behalf of everyone at ITD, we are all very proud of the accolades of our achievements and results and we aim to deliver even more in the future to provide the very best e-services and advanced information and communications architecture for DEWA. Our work keeps DEWA running, which in turn keeps Dubai running. We take our work very seriously and will continue to do so,” said Bin Haider. DEWA’s ITD has received a series of accolades, including winning first place in e-Services for the third year in row from Dubai e-Government, the Governments Application Award 2011 from the Government Digital Media Forum, the e-Services Excellence Award in the 16th GCC Middle East e-Government and e-Services excellence Award in 2011 and IT Department of the Year 2010 in the Middle East at the Arab ACN Technology Awards. The IT division has received these awards for a wide range of pioneering work on developing the latest applications to support the burgeoning growth of mobile devices available in today’s market. To date, it has developed eight mobile devices applications compatible such as the iPad, iPhone, Blackberry, Android, Windows 7 mobile phones, Samsung Smart TVs, and Windows Surface. These applications include the features like DEWA’s latest news, billing enquiries, bill payments, office location details, and sending e-complaints. These applications have been downloaded over 100,000 times and are available in all international stores.
